okay, lets see here, I am a straight guy and i find the guy to be a handsome man, and Emma Watson to be a beautiful lady, just because I am straight doesn't mean that i can deny his handsomeness.

They'd actually be able to understand that.

I'd give it a day before people text 911 with ughnmogawdHLPMIMRDRRNMIHOS@111ONEAVE.

well, the 1.5 meters long katana standing next to me will probably work as well XP
User avatar #227 to #212 - crazymachete (07/26/2012) [-]
If the Katana can stand, it can probably run and lunge as well. You should feel protected.
#229 to #227 - N. Korean citizen (07/26/2012) [-]
if you are within 10 feet of someone with a gun and you have a knife/sword. You are able to run and stab them before they can pull the gun up and aim and fire... easily... been proven.

If they have it already aimed and in your direction however you are boned. If you are behind them then you are able to get to them and kill them with a knife within 10 feet before they can turn around and aim however.
User avatar #240 to #229 - xgeneration (07/26/2012) [-]
You forgot dragging the sword on the ground while running at him and avoiding incoming shots then stab the fuck outta him.

If you call then hang up they should be able to triangulate the calls position right?
#206 to #199 - johnnybananaz (07/25/2012) [-]
one time i tried to call international which is 011, but i accidentally dialed 911. i immediately hung up and they called back like 10 seconds later and asked if it was an emergency.
User avatar #204 to #199 - crazyglove (07/25/2012) [-]
Triangulating a position isn't too accurate. Depending of who's being tracked.
#200 to #199 - N. Korean citizen (07/25/2012) [-]
No, call but do not say anything and cover the speaker and wait, they need time to triangulate, they cannot do it instantly

isnt there a passcode you can do on soda machines, payphones, walkways, elevators, and computers to call the police to your location as well?
#224 to #190 - ohemgeezus (07/26/2012) [-]
A passcode in an elevator that would signal the cops? I'm sorry but what idiot would rob someone in an elevator?
>hey give me your money
>oh shit here you go
>....
>so you're going up to the 9th floor?
>uhh yeah?
>oh, cool...
User avatar #215 to #190 - npfortytwo (07/25/2012) [-]
Soda machines? No way.
Walkways? No way.
Elevators, probably, but there's also an alarm button in the elevator, so.
Computers? I suppose.
Emergency calls on payphones are free.

Payphones don't require a pass code, no cash, just 911. Soda machines don't have phone lines. Walkways??? Best be trollin
User avatar #466 to #192 - eatshitop (07/31/2012) [-]
theres a police code on wakways 3 short presses 2 long ones 1 short 2 long 3 short and bam police is called as the red light is given out, and Soda machines actually have an SOS line on it.

In "Taken", she might've been able to successfully hide under the bed with a 911 feature like this.
User avatar #256 to #177 - giinthir (07/26/2012) [-]
911 is a different number outside of the states.
#216 to #177 - npfortytwo (07/25/2012) [-]
I always wondered why that bitch didn't hang up and dial 911.
User avatar #222 to #216 - buttinspecter ONLINE (07/26/2012) [-]
Because then Liam Neeson would have to let the police handle it entirely like in the real world, and we don't want to see a movie about a bunch of not-Liam-Neesons following the law. One could think that she could've just texted him, but then that entire scene would not have been even the slightest bit dramatic.
User avatar #170 - ubercripple (07/25/2012) [-]
I understand that that may be helpful for deaf people, but really, it doesn't matter whether you can talk or not. Just call the number, and they can track you down through your phone's signal. They send the police, fire trucks, and ambulance regardless.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
User avatar #173 to #170 - malhaloc (07/25/2012) [-]
Correction. They don't track the signal. They don't do that except for extreme cases in investigations. 911 operators need you to tell them your location. Which is why if you ever call 911 the first thing you should say, even if that's all you say, is your address.
User avatar #179 to #173 - ubercripple (07/25/2012) [-]
Hmm, I'll have to do some more research on this, I was rather convinced that they're able to track you as soon as you call, but it takes longer that way, so it's just better to say your location. Idk.
My cousin is a 911 operator, I should ask him later.
User avatar #214 to #179 - tsoper (07/25/2012) [-]
Once at school some scumbag kid called 911 then hung up and it was just a phone he found on the ground. 5 minutes later the cops showed up and no one knew what the fuck was going on.
#181 to #171 - fjuserethan (07/25/2012) [-]
Well well, it depends on the victim.
