really? then i must not have my priorities in order. my first order of business is make a house, then i dig straight down and get iron, coal and redstone. idk why, but having a map by the second day makes me feel more secure. i like to know what my world looks like.

I'm a 360 noob, so I start with a map, but I also usually do a muncaster seed with all my worlds, you can find coal easier, but it's just a matter of getting to it, because with muncaster you have GIGANTIC caves carved right through the mountains and cliffs, so you can literally walk through them (gives areas for monsters though), usually the coal is on the roof of these caves and the roof is usually anywhere from 40-60 blocks from ground level. Only about 6-12 blocks from the top of the mountain/cliff, but it would result in the coal falling down to the monster infected caves.

Yeah, it's a really fun seed, but really hard to navigate if you have difficulty above peaceful.

Not sure of seeds are universal between PC and 360, but might be, good luck with it.
