Actually if you plead guilty and you haven't actually committed the crime, a lot of times the court system doesn't even bother to check the facts because the guy just admited he did it, not much of a reason to. And then it turns out about 10 years later that he was forced to plead guilty by the police. It's happened several times.

That's a confession. After the indictment, you can enter plea of not guilty or guilty(in some states no contest). A guilty plea results in an immediate conviction, you are waving your right to a trial by jury.

You have to be charged first, which already requires an investigation, bro.

A person who pleads guilty waves their right to a trial by jury and can be sentenced as soon as a judge decides upon it. An investigation needs to be conducted for the person to even be charged by a grand jury, and only then can they submit a guilty plea. By the time of the trial (or guilty plea, in this case), the investigation has already been conducted, since you can't plead guilty to a crime you weren't even charged with.

I was going to say the same thing. There is no investigation after you plead guilty because The investigation takes place before you are charged with an indictment.
