yeah I'm surprised most other sports players don't just heckle back to hecklers? That's what I'd do if I was in like baseball or something.

Even in WWE wrestlers flip shit when fans either boo them or heckle them, Randy Orton and Batista both were pissed at fans heckling them at Royal Rumble, while Cena, he's gotten so used to it, he ignores it instead of playing off it.

And then there's Bad News Barrett smiling and eating it up when he gets a chant.

so this is what happened as a result of Shea Weber taking a slapshot at practice today.

Weber alone is enough to make me not want to be a pro hockey goalie.

i think i know Weber's hockey motto

if it ain't going past him, go through him.
User avatar #32428 to #32427 - hockeykicksass (2 hours ago) [-]
he really might put one through a goalie this year, or at least the webbing in their glove, either way i do not envy goalies going against him
User avatar #32430 to #32428 - thatdamnllama (2 hours ago) [-]
holy fuck. apparently this shot went through both the net and the boards.

Rinne's a lucky motherfucker that he doesn't have to deal with Weber's shots

User avatar #32435 to #32434 - hockeykicksass (2 hours ago) [-]
its a damn shame he doesnt have any help with offense down in nashville, he could put up so many more points if he had a decent offense in front of him
User avatar #32436 to #32435 - thatdamnllama (2 hours ago) [-]
he could move to forward and still kick ass

he could easily take the left-circle shot throne from Stamkos and Ovechkin
User avatar #32437 to #32436 - hockeykicksass (2 hours ago) [-]
he'd put up 100 points playing with those two
User avatar #32438 to #32437 - thatdamnllama (2 hours ago) [-]
sadly, a GM would have to offer Poile 2 limbs, a kidney and the heart of their first born child to get him to even consider trading Weber
User avatar #32439 to #32438 - hockeykicksass (2 hours ago) [-]
back when the Flyers signed him to that offer sheet, the Preds wanted Schenn, Couturier and more...so no one is getting him any time soon
#32440 to #32439 - thatdamnllama (2 hours ago) [-]
you're gonna laugh at this, but speaking of ridiculous things you'd have to give up for certain players, at the draft when Tampa Bay and Philadelphia were trying to persuade Florida to trade the #1 pick, Dale Tallon told Steve Yzerman that TB would have to give up Kucherov, Drouin/Vasilevskiy and their earlier 1st round pick.

MFW i read that at first
User avatar #32441 to #32440 - hockeykicksass (2 hours ago) [-]
Florida wanted Vinny, Schenn, Laugthon, Simmonds, and our 1st pick, im sure Ekbland will be a good pro but he ain't worth all that, besides i really like what the flyers got in Sanheim

User avatar #32442 to #32441 - thatdamnllama (2 hours ago) [-]
i'd rather keep DeAngelo, especially since we may need his offensive help if Koekkoek doesn't pan out
User avatar #32429 to #32428 - thatdamnllama (2 hours ago) [-]
to all NHL goalies, i don't care if it's OT or whatever, when you see Weber wind up for a slapper, please get the fuck out of the way.
User avatar #32379 to #32374 - MillionsKnives (5 hours ago) [-]
Definitely the scariest slapper in the game, hugely powerful and accurate as all hell. He's the reason I'm surprised they traded Hornqvist, as he would routinely get in front of the goalie when Weber had the puck, and that takes huge balls that Neal will never have.
User avatar #32380 to #32379 - thatdamnllama (5 hours ago) [-]
jesus! what are Hornqvist's balls made of?!
User avatar #32382 to #32380 - MillionsKnives (4 hours ago) [-]
Oh he's gotten injured a couple times from doing that, but he's a resilient bastard, though he can never finish on open nets, if you remember the playoffs a couple years ago.
User avatar #32383 to #32382 - thatdamnllama (4 hours ago) [-]
the scariest thing about Weber is that, if he wanted to hurt someone, he definitely could just with that shot.
User avatar #32384 to #32383 - MillionsKnives (4 hours ago) [-]
For sure, but he knows that and is actually pretty careful with how he shoots it, considering what he could do. Weber is the best defenseman in the league, by my standards.
User avatar #32385 to #32384 - thatdamnllama (4 hours ago) [-]
you can definitely tell he works on his accuracy more than anything with slapshots. Weber's a class guy, pain in the ass to play against, but that's a good thing for the Preds. if they can get their offense going (they have arguably the best defense in the league and Rinne's a god damn wall), they're gonna be a scary good team in that scary good central division.
User avatar #32386 to #32385 - MillionsKnives (4 hours ago) [-]
That's always been their problem, though, they really have no offensive players, mostly very good two-way players and the superstar players they would get were past their prime.

Their defense is always one of the best in the league, and still will be as they haven't changed much, but their change in coach to a much more offensive minded coach won't work out for them (in my mind) in their first season. Laviolette will almost definitely bring up Jarnkrok and Forsberg and that will work out for them (though they probably need a bit more time in Milwaukee, just to get more ice time), but there will still be growing pains.

I feel if you give it a year or two with Laviolette as coach, they could definitely become a powerhouse.
User avatar #32387 to #32386 - thatdamnllama (4 hours ago) [-]
from the glimpses i saw last season, Jarnkrok is gonna be an offensive powerhouse later in his career
User avatar #32388 to #32387 - MillionsKnives (4 hours ago) [-]
He played really well with Forsberg in Milwaukee, it was always really fun watching them play together, and I won't deny that I hope they stay that way for another year so I can have a lot of fun watching them in person more, but they will be called up.
User avatar #32389 to #32388 - thatdamnllama (4 hours ago) [-]

I'm seriously getting irritated by the lack of respect the media gives towards the winning teams this year, regardless if Yahoo or ESPN, they're both guilty of this. There was an article recently of the 16 storylines this MLB season, the Orioles (the Al east div leaders) didn't get a mention at all, when the Brewers were mentioned, it was more about the Cardinals catching up rather than the Brewers getting praised (including the sweep over the dodgers), the Yankees somehow got a mention, among other BS stupid shit.

I seriously can't understand why the media doesn't realize the Brewers are good, let alone teams like the Royals, Orioles, among others are good now.

Since I was on the Missouri team five years ago, I've realized how much the little league world series has changed, people are definitely lying about their age now, I never remember seeing a kid that huge, and then the media coverage it is getting now is insane. What's annoying is girls playing in it, turned it into a fucking joke. This is a sport for guys, can we just leave it that without everyone ruining shit with their politically correctness? And why are they having a young 13 year old girl throw so many curveballs at such a young age? That arm is gonna get blownout if they don't have her stop throwing so many.

Well we seem to have gotten lucky this year, Ok St lost a ton of their two deep, Notre Dame lost 4 players ( 3 of which are starters) to academics, Florida has a very hard schedule and a bad year last year, Louisville on Thursday could be bad but their is a big talent difference, get a young Clemson team at home early in the season. What are your hopes for UCLA this year?
User avatar #32409 to #32408 - nachoiscool (3 hours ago) [-]
It all depends on the oregon game. If we win we will probably go 11-1 win the pac 12 and get into the top 4. If we lose then we probably go 10-2 and settle for playing in a major bowl game just outside of the playoff. Needless to say its the single biggest ucla game In the past 16 years
User avatar #32410 to #32409 - tmstyrant (3 hours ago) [-]
You don't think Stanford will give them any problem? As long as they don't get in a shoot out with Oregon then I dont see why they could not win
User avatar #32411 to #32410 - nachoiscool (3 hours ago) [-]
thats the thing I'm a diehard ucla fan but i stll look at this game as a defining the season. Oregon seems over hyped and mark helifrch has not proven himself as a consistent head coach. Marcus Mariota is a beast but if he is only a little bit off of his game our linebackers could contain him. So it seems like this is the prime time for us to beat them. If we beat oregon stanford will be easy to beat. Even if we are 10-1 heading into the stanford game i think stanford has lost too many starters to recover not to mention they'll probably be injured a bit heading into the last game of the season.
User avatar #32423 to #32411 - tmstyrant (2 hours ago) [-]

User avatar #32421 to #32411 - tmstyrant (2 hours ago) [-]
I dont see very many schools going unbeaten but with the new committee it is hard to see what they put more emphasis on right now, conference champs, wins, SOS. If FSU beats everyone but they all suck this year does it matter less? You dont get to pick your how good your opponents, it's not FSU fault that OK st lost a bunch a people or that Notre cheats so do you give them credit for putting tough schools in the line up? This is why I wished they would release their criteria
User avatar #32422 to #32421 - nachoiscool (2 hours ago) [-]
yeah but you have to assume that no matter what gong undefeated in any power 5 conference will get you in. regardless of schedule
User avatar #32419 to #32411 - tmstyrant (3 hours ago) [-]
Also depends on the rest of the country records, FSU Alabama Oklahoma go unbeaten lets say, does 12-1 UCLA get in over unbeaten Big Ten school?
User avatar #32420 to #32419 - nachoiscool (3 hours ago) [-]
no but i guarantee you no more than 2 teams finish the year undefeated. oklahoma loses to baylor, baylor gets upset by k-state. Sec is a tough conference that basically guarantees everyone 1 lose, I honestly only see fsu as finishing undefeated
User avatar #32416 to #32411 - tmstyrant (3 hours ago) [-]
Oh geez I forgot you guys started so many freshman, I know you guys are a dark horse to win the title but you think they can not lose one randomly like FSU has done over the past 5 years excluding last year of course lol
User avatar #32417 to #32416 - nachoiscool (3 hours ago) [-]
we probably will, i can almost guarantee we will lose at washington. They are an under rated team and its over head coaches alma mater and he's from seattle and its right before we play usc so we might overlook them. so all those mixed emotions probably equal us losing. But still i think 12-1 with the pac 12 title gets us in
User avatar #32412 to #32411 - tmstyrant (3 hours ago) [-]
ehh I dont follow football on the west coast as much, Stanford has beat Oregon with a big O-line and D-line they won the game in the trenches, can UCLA do that?
User avatar #32415 to #32412 - nachoiscool (3 hours ago) [-]
yes, Ucla right now has one of the top 10 defenses in the country plus we started 18 freshmen last year so most of them already have experience and stanfords offense is not even that overpowering. All of our past games to stanford have been close loses that we should've won
