Maxthon is pretty awesome due to HTML5 test, but basically it's just Chromium (open source version of Chrome) with some IE library, so you can access IE from other program.

I don't use IE, but I tried the newer version of it on Windows 8 and it has significantly improved. I may consider switching to it if Chrome doesn't fix their memory usage. I cannot stand that each tab is a separate process.

That's so the browser doesn't hang if a tab hangs, you can also enable this in Windows Explorer so if an explorer window crashes, your taskbar and other explorer windows wouldn't crash either. Basically it's like a failsafe.

I know what it's used for, but I generally have ALOT of tabs open. Facebook, 4chan, FJ, other forums, Netflix and multiple of each (except netflix). When something crashes, which rarely happens, I'd rather take the 3 seconds to close the single process and restore my session instead of gumming up my entire computer for a failsafe.

Well I'm an IE user myself, and with two tabs open I have three IE processes open in IE9, it does the same thing but I guess the memory usage isn't that bad, swtich if you like, I recommend it. Plus I'm not very fond of Google tracking my usage and whatnot.
