Because the majority of immature people on the internet are 12. Not all 12 year olds are immature, but a disproportionately large number of them are. More so than other ages meaning immaturity gets associated with that age group the most. Stereotypes work the same way.

You're not supposed to be mature at 12. Honestly, to expect anything different is our own fault.

I don't think that's a correct statistic (Not the immaturity in 12 year olds, but rather the bit about a majority of immature people on the internet being 12) I've seen far more people around the age of 14-16 who are, for lack of a better word, complete cunts since that's around the angsty years where they feel a need to feel bigger then they are.
