Zombies don't rely on hydration in order to keep moving, they just go wherever their feet take them and if it happens to be a populated town, well then hey it's time to eat.

heat speeds the decomposition process. thereby shortening their "life" cycle. what might take 6 months normally may only take 2 in the desert.

one problem, is that In vegas, the heat is so much they'd dry up, every thing needs water, your muscles require it, thus the zombies would dry into husks and fall into dust upon leaving vegas, as there is literally nothing for miles. and zombies are slow.
