My grandma not related by blood had it too and died last week.

I watched my grandfather slowly lose his memory and become more and more bed ridden. We would visit him and remind him of who we were, walk out of the room for five minutes, and he wouldn't recognize us when we walked back in. Eventually, he wasn't able to walk, talk, or really do anything besides breathe and exist. He died when I was 12.

i know how that feels...

when my grandmother was still alive and bed ridden we would regularly visit her in her bedroom sometime she'd be up and walking like nothings wrong and sometimes she'd be moaning in pain... those were very painful days knowing that you can't do anything else for her...

but the worst part was when i visited her and she was starting to forget things... she looked up to me for a few seconds and faced her sister and asked...
"who's this pretty young lady?"

i thought she was just joking then i slowly realized that she really can't remember me anymore...

now that i think about it... that was the last time she ever actually spoke to me since after that she was sent to the ITC ... and when i got home one day everyone was crying and they told me that she was gone...

i don't know whether to be happy that she called me pretty before she passed away or sad that she can't even remember me.....

My gradnma used to live with us and she had alzheimers too(also dimensia)..
The worst part was I had to watch as the months went by as she transcended from being healthy, to not knowing who any of us were or where she was, any of the time...

She died 4 months ago...

My great grandmother is like 97 and she calls me Kevin. Kevin is my dads name.

sucks man. my aunt was walking down the street when she got hit by a car and as she fell the wheel clipped her head and when we visited her in the hospital she didn't know who we were. we thought she was just fucking with us but turns out she had memory loss. good thing too because in that accident she lost two of her children.
