uh... I don't watch the show... but is it true that he is a water bender?
User avatar #128 to #124 - YourLordAndMaster (06/27/2012) [-]
Yes and an extremely powerful bloodbender too, he can bloodbend with his mind.

oh okay, then I should really watch LoK

Anyone else think that the battle scenes in the last episode were
pretty weak? I mean the 'war' between the equalists and General
Iroh's ships was just 6 planes VS about 3 fire benders and Korra.
Also Iroh wasn't nearly badass enough.
#183 to #121 - kemsley (06/27/2012) [-]
General Iroh deserved atleast somewhat decent voice.
User avatar #209 to #183 - condormcninja (06/27/2012) [-]
Yeah, he has the same voice as an adult his grandfather/father (I'm an idiot and not sure) had when he was a teenager. It makes total sense.
User avatar #184 to #183 - Awesomecarrot (06/27/2012) [-]
True, for some reason the used the voice actor of
Zuko from The Legend of Aang, and it didn't fit at all.
Guess he had a contract.
#161 to #121 - Dreadlord (06/27/2012) [-]
I think General Iroh deserved so much more. He was such a badass, and I was expected much more of a fight scene.

They are only singed on to do a set amount of episodes, so LoK has been more rushed than The last Airbender. This show could be AMAZING if they were given a good amount of time to actually character develop and make good fight scenes. So much potential for this show but sadly it has to be rushed to no fault of the writers.
#126 to #121 - wafflepan (06/27/2012) [-]
When I think about it they actually were pretty weak the Korra one was pretty cheesy too I mean it would have been cooler that when she got her bending taken away, she only lost one element...
#134 to #126 - N. Korean citizen (06/27/2012) [-]
she lost three and could only use air...then she got them all back which was pretty weaksauce but meh.
#119 - isus (06/27/2012) [-]
Even though it's related to The legend of Korra, it's not funny, and therefore I'm not thumbing it up.

I think the season finale was "ok" at best.
That is until the last 5 minutes. Then it was just... bad.

Amon's background story was mediocre, even close to disappointing. As well as his "big reveal".
And I don't like the last 5 minutes of the finale. They had a good base for a plot for season 2, but they went all Deus Ex Machina and solved in 2 seconds. I raged. It felt cheap as hell.
Not to mention a few things like:
How did Tenzin's family get captured and why we didn't get to see it?
The whole Asami/Mako/Korra love triangle was handled poorly.
Oh, and why did Bolin get reduced to "that guy in the background making faces and silly comments"? I think that pissed me off the most.
#177 to #118 - meirzin (06/27/2012) [-]
It was because they only had 12 episodes to work with through their contract, they didn't expect the show to be nearly as successful as it was.
User avatar #210 to #177 - condormcninja (06/27/2012) [-]
So they weren't working as hard because they weren't sure it would be successful? That seems like bullshit...
#233 to #210 - meirzin (06/27/2012) [-]
Nick didn't think it would be successful so they limited the episodes, therefore limiting how much they could build on the story.
#240 to #233 - rafalskimi (06/27/2012) [-]
But if they were planning on season 2, they didn't have to rush everything at the end.
Season 2, providing extra 14 episodes, would give more time for the plot and characters to develop properly.

Now, Season 2 is just going to be a teen drama.
#259 to #240 - N. Korean citizen (06/27/2012) [-]
They were working hard, they just didn't have the ability to do anything with it. They were handed a mini-series contract, and 7 episodes in were told they were approved for season 2, but still had the same number cap on the season 1 episodes... Twelve episodes to tell a story and make the characters matter. Combine with comedic relief, and you get very little exposition time. They did the best they could, and they knew it wouldn't work well. So they rushed it. They bit the bullet, made a decent enough show, and cleared all the grounds for the sake of season 2 getting a fresh start. Yes, it made for a crappy first season, but I'm holding out hope they'll make up for it in season 2.
#163 to #118 - Dreadlord (06/27/2012) [-]
Bolin deserved so much more than that. He's one of my favorite characters, and he went from being a proper character with feelings to just that guy who sometimes says one-liners.

the show in overall was good.the last episode was like they were trying to fit stuff worth ten episode into this one episode and thus the final episodes kinda ruins the show a little bit

while the show was a far cry from it's predecessor, ATLA, it was still a pretty good show and a lot better then anything else that has been put onto TV lately

the biggest dilemma that show had was they tried to fit too much into 12 episodes, and you can tell from the season finale, everything was just rushed it felt like...but really, people who complain about other peoples' preferences are far more annoying then the people who are trying to share them

It was rushed because the makers were only given a set amount of episodes they could do, The Last Airbender wasn't nearly as rushed as LoK, they could REALLY do a good job with LoK, but unfortunately they just don't have the time to make it at the same quality as The Last Airbender.

Korra: Amon a water bender!
Amon: No im not
Korra: Yes you are!
Amon: Bitch I actually done shit on this show not make a god damn love triangle I just took peoples bending away (Cough* by blocking their light chakra) And the only thing you done is made Bolin go in the deep
#267 to #88 - N. Korean citizen (06/27/2012) [-]
I think it's bullshit that amon can take bending like that.
The Chakra's are a matter of energy flowing through the body. Hence ENERGY BENDING is was Aang used to take away bending.
Aang, will all his past lives and personal experience. With all his ability and meditation... Had to be taught by a god damned lion turtle. Meanwhile, Noatak runs away from home, and shows up decades later knowing how to take bending via blood bending, something no one on record knew how to do... It's bullshit.
It's not like it was a rare talent, or a lost art. It didn't exist because blood is your physical state, and Chakras are your energies. That's why, in the Avatar state when the spirit and energies take dominion over the physical, the Avatar can resist blood bending. It's why there is a battle of spirit when Aang tried to take Ozai's bending. It's an existence beyond the physical.
So shenanigans. Bullshit. Poppycock.

I'm saying i'm surprised that it was allowed to stay in the show now that most T.V. (for kids) is REALLY watered down. And you need to remember that back in the 90's Cartoon Network let all that kind of shit slide, not current day Nickelodeon

i felt they should just ended right there and then, but if they are going to make a second season (which they are) they should make it that people are expanding too much and that the spirits are being angered. And Korra, being connected to her spirit side, has to put the spirits at rest.
User avatar #61 to #53 - murkythreat (06/27/2012) [-]
It was originally going to be a one season spin-off and man does it show from the finale. The second season was a demand from fans who loved the concept and Nick for wanting more money (not that it's a bad thing).
User avatar #65 to #61 - flyinjew (06/27/2012) [-]
Well, the title is Metal so... Maybe Korra will learn metalbending?
User avatar #69 to #65 - caesarslegion (06/27/2012) [-]
She had all bending but Water Bending taken away, it'll probably just be her adventuring around re-learning all the bending techniques.
User avatar #71 to #69 - flyinjew (06/27/2012) [-]
Um... Did you miss the last episode?
1. She lost everything but AIRbending.
2. Avatar Aang used energybending on her to give her back all her bending, taught her how to go into the Avatar State and taught her energybending.
3. She restored Lin's bending with energybending.
4. She also kissed Mako.
User avatar #72 to #71 - caesarslegion (06/27/2012) [-]
They'll need to present a new threat then.

:I
User avatar #75 to #72 - flyinjew (06/27/2012) [-]
Exactly...
But what threat could be big enough to face a Fully Realized Avatar who can energybend?
User avatar #122 to #75 - iputsomeusername (06/27/2012) [-]
I may be mistaken, but itsn't the avatar first fully realized, when s/he can bend all elements at the same time? Korra only bent them all one by one.
User avatar #312 to #122 - flyinjew (06/28/2012) [-]
That, sir, is a good question.
No, an Avatar is Fully Realized when he/she can enter the Avatar State at will and control it. We first heard of "Fully Realized" when Fire Lord Sozin said it about Avatar Roku but what wasn't show was that Roku spent months with the Fire Sages working on controlling the Avatar State, after which he became Fully Realized.

TL;DR: Fully Realized = mastering the Avatar State.
#84 to #75 - redryumaru (06/27/2012) [-]
Well, the chaos and hard feelings between benders and non benders made by Tarlock and Noatok didn't just disappear, so she'll probably have to do something about that.
User avatar #85 to #84 - flyinjew (06/27/2012) [-]
Yeah but political unrest doesn't make an interesting show.
If it did, we would all be watching C-SPAN.
Maybe Lieutenant took over the Equalists and made it legit non-bending.
#130 to #85 - redryumaru (06/27/2012) [-]
Well, how about the source of where Amon learned energybending? assuming he didn't learn it himself of course.
#241 to #130 - tennisgoalie (06/27/2012) [-]
Amon didn't learn energybending. he used waterbending to block the Light Chakra so people couldn't bend. That's how Tarrlok noticed whom he really was.
User avatar #77 to #75 - caesarslegion (06/27/2012) [-]

It's not the Avatar state that gives immunity, it's being a powerful waterbender. The Avatar state just gives that extra boost Aang (and presumably Korra) need to resist it. Remember, Amon and Katara could both resist bloodbending.
