He could at least leave his kids a million or two with the kind of money he has. Charity is one thing but family's important too. One of them could get seriously ill and need the money to pay for operations or treatment. And why should we be impressed by a cheap rich guy? I fail to understand funnyjunk's interest in things like this.
#120 to #112 - bamboosixtyeight (06/21/2012) [-]
He's not cheap, he has a nice life, he just avoids buying unnecessary fancy stuff, instead he saves the lives of millions of people.

I love it when rich people lead humble lifestyles.

But if that gets 100 again, i'll make another one

15 billion to charity,
Kids who where brought up to make their own money,
Advocates higher taxes on the ultra wealthy.
Secular man who is charitable, ethical, moral, and responsible

Conclusion: You're a twat stain. Get the fuck off this planet, It's better without spoiled brats like you.
#107 to #90 - herpdaki (06/21/2012) [-]
Rich guy doesn't flaunt his wealth like a douchefuck and you don't like for it?

People like you are why Kim Kardashian is famous.

I don't like you.
User avatar #94 to #90 - iRetaliate (06/21/2012) [-]
Can't tell if stupid and uneducated or trolling...

Warren Buffet doesn't like to buy expensive things because he donates an extraordinary percent of his money to charity.
#98 to #94 - themoe (06/21/2012) [-]
Oh im sorry, i wasn't taught at school that "Warren Buffett donates an extraordinary percent of his money to charity"

I am clearly uneducated, my apologies
User avatar #104 to #98 - darkseidrules (06/21/2012) [-]
Many people his age are like that. I know a bunch of old people who have dope amounts of cash in the bank, but only shop at thrift stores. It's all a matter of having been born and growing up in the great depression.
User avatar #102 to #98 - iRetaliate (06/21/2012) [-]
Nice job deleting your comment which showed exactly how stupid you are...

Really, nice job...

But, just a suggestion, you may want to delete a few more.

I can already see 2 that show how stupid you are.

If you don't know who Warren Buffet, the single most wealthy businessman and philanthropist in America, is, then YES, you are uneducated.
User avatar #92 to #90 - kyledp (06/21/2012) [-]
I'd do the same thing.
It's my money, and i wouldn't want my kids to have a life already set for them from my money.
User avatar #87 - whatugawkinat (06/21/2012) [-]
If I was a billionaire, I'd still have an old, cheap reliable vehicle and a small home. Put your damn money to better use.

User avatar #91 to #68 - kyledp (06/21/2012) [-]
If i had 31 billion dollars, i wouldn't spend it all in a week.
I would be cheap too.
User avatar #76 to #68 - cupotruth (06/21/2012) [-]
he is not wasting his money on extravagant things, he wants give all his money away to people who need it rather than his children who are doing fine, he is friends with a brilliant man just because he believes he is a good person rather than he is rich, and just wants a quiet fruitfull life. yeah what an asshole huh?
#78 to #76 - draguana (06/21/2012) [-]
Sorry, didn't realize I wasn't allowed to have an opinion. He sounds like a cheap asshole to me.
#84 to #78 - N. Korean citizen (06/21/2012) [-]
no you said he was a cheat asshole dont change your story
User avatar #80 to #78 - cupotruth (06/21/2012) [-]
no you can have an opinion but why is he cheap. im actually curious.
#82 to #80 - draguana (06/21/2012) [-]
He's one of the most richest men alive, and yet he's living like he's middle class. Even some of the facts in this content back up my opinions of him. I'm not calling the man bad, I'm calling him cheap.
User avatar #96 to #82 - iRetaliate (06/21/2012) [-]
Being Cheap means that you don't use your money for ANYTHING. In that you hoard it.

He doesn't hoard it, he uses it to improve the lives of those less fortunate than him.
User avatar #85 to #82 - cupotruth (06/21/2012) [-]
thats basically calling him bad anyway you want him to flaunt his money? if he did that then people would hate him for being rich you don't like him because he's rich but doesn't want to act snooty? wow hard to win.
#95 to #85 - draguana (06/21/2012) [-]
The man has 31 billiion dollers. The could buy a multi-million doller mansion and he wouldn't even notice the money was gone. The only way he could "flaunt his money" would be if he threw out million doller bills at the local strip club for a few decades and lived on the moon.
User avatar #99 to #95 - cupotruth (06/21/2012) [-]
no i think living in a huge mansion is flaunting your money... just a little.
#105 to #99 - draguana (06/21/2012) [-]
I'm not saying he should live in a huge mansion, I'm saying he could and he probably wouldn't ever know the money was gone. Because he has 31,000,000,000 dollers.
User avatar #67 - Sandisky (06/21/2012) [-]
Buffett is one of my favorite people. Also, it's not right to say the kids won't inherit his wealth, as they will get a small portion of it. Still good post though, OP
#89 to #67 - Hidnight (06/21/2012) [-]
a small portion of 1 billion dollars could be pretty big for most people
User avatar #108 to #89 - Sandisky (06/21/2012) [-]
His entire wealth isn't 1 billion...
#110 to #108 - Hidnight (06/21/2012) [-]
I was addressing to the "...small portion..." part
User avatar #70 to #67 - bobisfun (06/21/2012) [-]
i would give each of my children 1 billion dollars
User avatar #73 to #70 - acfb (06/21/2012) [-]
I would do the same myself, however, I honestly think it's his way to say that everyone should make their own future and live with the consequences of their own actions, not the better decisions (or unwise in some cases) of our parents, or anyone else for that matter.
User avatar #74 to #73 - bobisfun (06/21/2012) [-]
Indubitably.
#66 - lackofcareingerer (06/21/2012) [-]
He also believes in higher taxes for the rich. He was complaining that he gets taxed less then some of his employs. Good man, good man.

seems like a good guy but i have to say, i'd be pretty pissed if he was my dad and i didn't get any inheritance!
#63 to #59 - N. Korean citizen (06/21/2012) [-]
what's the point in life if you have nothing to earn and strive for? I think it's quite nice :) he's putting so much money to good causes.
User avatar #65 to #63 - littlemsfunnyjunk (06/21/2012) [-]
you could use that money to travel the world and help others, you could not have to worry about making a decent salary and give your kids happiness, you could take them with you and teach them to help others, you could use his money in your own investments and continue the fortune to help even more people in the future!
User avatar #58 - thepandaking (06/21/2012) [-]
I'm sure he is a nice man, but all he's ever done is investing, he calls for higher taxes on the rich but he doesn't get taxed, because that's income tax and his money doesn't come from income, it comes from investment. Not saying this makes him a terrible person, just saying I disagree with some of his views and I'm not really going to think he's an angel for saving money by living in a not-mansion (it's pretty damn big for a house)
Anyway that's my opinion take it or leave it, but like I said I'm sure he's a good person.
User avatar #53 - trolljunkusa (06/21/2012) [-]
He paid for his sons college, but thats it

his son has to live like the rest of us, due to his dad wanting him to be responsible

He's a good man
User avatar #50 - PedoXBear (06/21/2012) [-]
While he is a great man, I don't see how having billions of dollars and not having a big house and a nice car is considered to be more modest than having a lot of money and buying yourself a huge house and a Mercedes (or some other nice car). If you have money, fucking use it, you earned it and you deserve to treat yourself. Of course, if you're gonna be a dick and not donate any then you can go fuck yourself. :)
User avatar #52 to #50 - sanshiiuum (06/21/2012) [-]
Because, when you buy unnecessary things, you look like a dick. If what you have isn't broken, don't fix it and don't get a new one.
User avatar #88 to #52 - youngfearless (06/21/2012) [-]
if you earn all that money, you deserve to get yourself nice things
User avatar #133 to #88 - PedoXBear (06/21/2012) [-]
Exactly.
User avatar #51 to #50 - trolljunkusa (06/21/2012) [-]
You'll make more money if you live modestly.

People who buy the max that they can, eventually just lose it all and then end up homeless.

If he loses it all he can still survive for another 50-60 years.
User avatar #261 to #51 - flyingmantis (06/21/2012) [-]
The amount of interest he makes in a week on his money would be enough for a gigantic house and mean car.
User avatar #54 to #51 - PedoXBear (06/21/2012) [-]
I agree that you shouldn't spend it all. The guy has 30 billion dollars, he should be able to buy a huge house and a nice car without making a dent in his wealth.
User avatar #57 to #54 - sketchE ONLINE (06/21/2012) [-]
maybe but since most of his wealth will be going to charity its not like the guy who builds up millions of dollars but only for himself with no intent of giving it away or spending it
User avatar #55 to #54 - trolljunkusa (06/21/2012) [-]
It all adds up eventually, and bigger house doesn't always mean better, you have to pay for more cleaning.

Better car = more scared of getting in an accident
User avatar #263 to #55 - flyingmantis (06/21/2012) [-]
Dude, He's not mildly rich, he's filthy rich, he would make too much interest to run out of money.
#75 to #55 - meebert (06/21/2012) [-]
that house is already fairly big, still needs cleaning.
