or when the opponent is fucking asleep and the attack you are using has an accuracy stat of 100, and it still fucking misses. I flip gameboys over that shit.

How the hell did you get a Raichu?

Not once in my dozens of playthroughs of every game up to the GBA have I found a Thunderstone.
User avatar #61 to #47 - wtf man (06/19/2012) [-]
in pokemon red/ blue you can get a pikachu in the grass before the first gym, and they sell thunderstones in that store with multiple floors in the town with the casino in it

Surf can't miss.

"100%" moves actually only had a 99.6% chance of hitting due to the mechanics of the game at that time.
#17 to #16 - twilightdusk (06/19/2012) [-]
False.

Surf has a base accuracy of 100%, this is not the same as moves such as swift which don't have a base accuracy and simply always hit. Moves and items that modify accuracy or evasion could cause Surf to miss.
User avatar #18 to #17 - richardastley (06/19/2012) [-]
Wait... People actually use sand attack and other accuracy-lowering attacks?
#19 to #18 - twilightdusk (06/19/2012) [-]
Double-Team tends to be a banned move in official competitions if that gives you an idea of how useful people find the ability to affect accuracy.
#22 to #19 - mastermonorail ONLINE (06/19/2012) [-]
You can't use double team in real matches!?
#23 to #22 - twilightdusk (06/19/2012) [-]
Most organized tournaments have an "Evasion clause" that bans the use of moves that intentionally boost your pokemon's evasion, namely double team and minimize.
User avatar #26 to #23 - thoreon (06/19/2012) [-]
does this exclude Acupressure as well?
#27 to #26 - twilightdusk (06/19/2012) [-]
Quoting a more detailed version of the rule I found here: http://altros74.webs.com/standardrules.htm

Probably the most important rule in competitive play. This rule states that no player is allowed to use the moves Double Team and Minimize. Any other mean of raising evasion is legal, like Brightpowder, the Sand Veil Ability, or Acupressure. Using Double Team or Minimize due to Metronome is not a violation, but Assist is.
