I could be completely wrong, so correct me if I am, but wouldn't it be more accurate to call them metrosexual instead of gay?
I think it would be wonderful if a character on a childrens cartoon was definitively portrayed as a homosexual.
Now I've probably lost most of you already, but stick around, what I'm about to say will most likely make a lot of sense when you stop to consider it:
You've probably never seen a gay person who identifies as a gay person in childrens media before, and for good reason. It's a mature theme that shouldn't be treated lightly. It's something our younger audiences aren't ready for, and we should keep it from them until they are mature enough to understand. Or should we?
Heterosexuality has dominated television since it's conception. From something as blatant as a sex scene in adult film, to something as subtle as a Mr. and Mrs. living together in a kids show. You may have realized it, or maybe you haven't but even in kids shows; in fact, ESPECIALLY in kids shows; heterosexuality is prevalent. Because we refuse to expose children the the "mature themes" of homosexuality, the only kind of intimate relationship that exists is a heterosexual one, even if the relations are only implied.
We have defeated sexism and racism, and provided equality for people of different ethnicity and genders. We are so close to having total tolerance, and yet, we continue to shun homosexuality from the media. I'm not asking for 2 guys to get on screen and fuck, I'm not asking for two lesbians to rip each others' clothes off and start making out. All I want to see is gays getting the same treatment as straight people; the opportunity to have innocent, kids friendly relations without the backlash of prejudice. The same nervous crushes, the same romantic first kisses, the same implied relationships. The exact same thing we already see, but with the same gender. That's not bad, is it? That's not hard, is it?
Being gay is neither a sign nor a warning of maturity. It is simply another equal albeit overlooked part of our every day society.

Real fanboys follow the words of Lauren Faust like a second bible, and she had stated that RD is in fact not a lesbian.

Wow, two anti-pony post that I've laughed at today! Good show!
But seriously, how can someone tell a cartoon pony's sexuality? I mean, the only ponies who's sexuality has even been hinted is Rarity because she had a crush on that one prince (whatever the fuck his name is). Other than that, you really have nothing to go off of, other than someone wanting to start another stupid, pony joke.

How many of the ponies actually have a confirmed sexuality? The only love interest in the show of the mane 6 was Rarity and Prince Blueblood. So there you go all the others cartoon lesbian horses. I dont mind the stories about Lyra beleiving in humans or Doctor Whooves being a time traveler, but thinking that a character in a childrens cartoon is a lesbian? You cannot get any more retarded.
