Even if they had the ability to reach America, which is highly unlikely, America's advanced missile defense would intercept that fucker long before it reached anything significant, and yes, you can bet your sweet ass America would be dragged into a war if NK had the balls to lob a nuke at anyone.

Okay seeing as this is the only board i can do this on. I have a paper on politics and long story short my idea is that we need a third party in US congress (I used the libertarian party as an example). Now i remember seeing people on the internet (here, 4chan, etc.) saying that we do need a 3rd party but i cant exactly remember the reason for it. Any help?
User avatar #26734 to #26733 - pebar (04/11/2013) [-]
Only 2 parties doesn't adequately represent the opinions of the majority. The two parties have radically different views and there is almost no middle ground so when laws pass, there will be 50% of people who are satisfied but not happy, 49% who are very unhappy, and only 1% who actually like the bill. With more parties, people have more options and so it's not all black or white; you can have a government that people actually like, unlike our current congress which has something like a 90% disapproval rate.

Have a problem with illegal immigration and want to fix it? TOO BAD, YOU'RE A RACIST!
Against excessive and out-of-control welfare spending? YOU'RE AN EVIL RACIST WHO HATES THE POOR.
Want to keep the government limited in size and keep it from having too much power? YOU'RE A GOVERNMENT-HATING ANARCHIST.

Don't get me wrong, the Republicans love branding people too, but at least they don't have a self-righteous attitude and pretend to want a world of love and tolerance and then do a 180 when hearing an opposing opinion.

#26735 to #26693 - pebar (04/11/2013) [-]
Time travel has already been proven by experiment and it is not that....
You can make the time around you go faster which basically allows you to travel into the future. As the diagram shows, there are different paths events can take place; this is a result of the wave nature of every particle. The motion of subatomic particles is determined by probability, not cause and effect, so pretty much anything can happen. The multi-verse theory comes from the fact that since the dawn of the universe, every event could take one path; each path would then have its own set of paths and so on. Schrodinger's cat was a way to try to explain this. The cat in the sealed box may be killed by a particle that has a 50% chance of doing something. If it happens, the cat dies, if not the cat survives. This uncertainty comes from the nature of the universe, not form any outside influence, therefore it is impossible to know what happen so it can be treated as both. Saying you can look into the future without going there is like saying you can know what happened in the box without checking.

tl;dr - According to quantum mechanics, the future is a blur, even if you know the motion of every particle because time is not based on cause and effect (inb4 timey wimey).

>the recklessness of the state government regarding abortion
What is their stance? How is it reckless? Be a tad more specific.
User avatar #26663 to #26659 - pebar (04/10/2013) [-]
North Dakota just passed the nations strictest abortion laws which ban abortion at about 6 week or when a heartbeat can be detected. It is designed specifically, and they've admitted this, to test the boundaries of Roe v Wade. They knew there would a storm of lawsuits after this but they have only just recently set aside money to defend it. As far as I know, nothing has been done to prepare for the wave of unwanted children who chances are will go neglected because the parent could not be handle the responsibility. There is a theory (which I agree with) that allowing abortions reduces crime because having to care for a child when you don't have the ability reduces the standard of living for the parent and the child. This child has a greater chance of turning to crime due to either desperation or bad parenting. Most woman don't even know they're pregnant before the deadline so they have this responsibility forced upon them without even a chance. Furthermore, state funding has been cut off to any organization that defends abortion rights. In many cases, these organizations try to encourage safe sex so that the pregnancy never takes places thus removing the need for an abortion. But it seems parents don't like the government talking to kids about safe sex because quite frankly we are a very religious state (which is not bad, I'm just saying).

tl;dr - We're unprepared to deal with the consequences that will come of this.

www.usnews.com/news/articles/2013/04/08/peta-plans-to-fly-drones-that-would-stalk-hunters

Things to consider:

1) limited range
like a few hundred yards, if the drone is near you, you're near the guy flying it. Go find him, & confront the fucker.

2) limited loiter
they're designed to hoist a camera into the air for a few minutes to get a shot or two. They aren't going to be up there long so if you spot it, just wait it out and he'll have to bring it down soon enough.

3) Wireless video feed
Usually these things run on the 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz frequency. Wonder how hard it would be to jam them? If they can't see then the whole operation is pointless.

4) FAA regs
It's a gray area but the FAA has been trying to outlaw these things. Ordinarily I'd tell the FAA to go fuck itself but in this case it might be a good idea to give them a call, maybe even document the case, get a license plate number & see if you can get them fined.
A few $100,000 fines will make them think twice before doing this again.

Yes.
Basically people are allowed to live as they see fit.
Most modern cultures have this now too but America is a tiny bit different because of the way our legal system works and the history of our government.
America was founded on the idea that the people are supreme. The authority of the government comes from the people and therefore the people reserve the right to take away that power. Also, in our legal system, both sides have rules they have to follow. Our courts are adversarial, meaning it's one side against another. In the a criminal case, it's the accused vs the government. Law enforcement has to prove that the criminal is guilty, if not then the criminal goes free. During this process, the government is restricted on what it can do. For example, police cannot just randomly search through your stuff. Even if they find something and you both know beyond any doubt that you committed a crime, you could not be prosecuted because the government broke the rules. Dangerous people do go free because of this but that's a small price to pay to keep the government in check.
