Seems more like a stunt to give him some spotlight traction for his supposed move to a presidential campaign. My problem is the budget is solely focused on a "fuck Obamacare" shtick, and doesn't seem to focus on many other issues of spending.
I don't really see how that's respectable at all, because it's just partisan bickering, which is a cancer to any political progress.

Hmm, not going to happen, does america have a law like the brits do where you can bypass the second house or threaten to do so? (Although only if you are in governance so I guess that's out of the question) Enjoy nothing getting done for the next few years.
User avatar #48131 to #48129 - pebar (09/25/2013) [-]
To my knowledge there is no bypass procedure. Each house can submit their own amendments to the bill but both houses have to agree on the final draft. This specific bill is what funds the entire government and money is running out quickly. If no bill passes, the government will shut down and that's what the republicans are threatening. The republicans are willing to fund everything else, just not Obamacare. It's basically a giant game of chicken with a lot at stake.
And TBH, nothing ever gets done in congress; that's why it consistently has an approval rating of about 15%.

So it's a case of "let's blow the fuck up out of the system and plunge the country into chaos just to prove a point" it'll just force more power centralization at the end of the day.

This IS the system. When the country is deeply divided, it's supposed to be difficult for one party to take control. And I doubt many people who aren't employed by the federal government will notice because our state governments are still standing.

Its scarey how similar liberals tribalism ideals of community and byposted nationalist ideals of strength sound.

That the community, the state, the church or the unity of race is far more important than any one's freedoms.

And really they work exactly the same, act exactly the same, and sound exactly the same.

Economically they are the same. Socially they work the same (For a different side mind you but still the same) They use the same tactics and propaganda as the Nazis. And they hate outside opinions where as libertarians, and communists are use to them.

Oh my god, liberals are really Nazis!

Sure debate is a great opportunity to learn and develop a more concrete viewpoint that you can defend. For example, the only experience I have with economics is AP mirco I took in highschool; I have never taken a macro class so I know very little about it. I would be very eager to learn more things like keynesian policies; and I plan to later in in my college education.

But you're an extremely hard right capitalist libertarian, so when you hear left policies like welfare or authoritarian policies like gun control, aren't you also unreasonably concrete in your opinions, sometimes not maximizing efficiency and public utility?

Today in psychology, I learned that male homosexuality and female homosexuality are different.
Male homosexuality is entirely biological with absolutely no environmental impact whatsoever. Also if you have more older brothers, you're more likely to be gay.
For females, homosexuality occurs less often and there are environmental factors. For example, there is a correlation between lesbianism and higher education. hue

Thoughts on feminism?

If women are cheaper, yet provide the same quality, why aren't businesses exploiting this great source of labor? Is it because a few decades ago the market was flooded with people willing to work just because they wanted to work to show men they could fend for themselves, thus price being lowered from the supply side? Is it because women just haven't reached the top 1% because getting there takes generations to achieve and there just hasn't been enough time for the market to adjust yet?
Or is it really the perception that women are lower quality work, thus lowering price from the demand side?
As long as government stays out of it and doesn't force society to change, then that's perfectly fine.
User avatar #48108 to #48095 - undeadwill ONLINE (09/25/2013) [-]
Feminism is long over stayed its welcome. Its no longer relevant or necessary. Its achieved its goals but now is proceeding to create a matriarchy.

Anyway, both yes and no, I've never noticed the pay gap, Russia there wasn't one in all the jobs I worked, (Hospital work and Military) Ukraine (Medical) no difference in pay either, it was harder to get a job in certain industries (Lots of varied university educated women are limited to service jobs then again economically speaking Ukraine is fucked with low production possibilities and no ability to expand)

The fact that Poland became a state post-WWII came less out of generosity than necessity. Stalin believed in having peoples at least represented on paper, and who else would that captured land have gone to? Germans? Poles were the only people with claims to that territory, other than Germans.

As such, nothing was done "for us." If Russia had gotten its way, Poles would be called "Poo Russians" just as the Little and White Russians.

Example: violent culture to blame guns on while having an nonexistent healthcare system. What do liberals mean when they say race is a social construct?
User avatar #48065 to #48054 - pebar (09/24/2013) [-]
Saying something is a social construct is a total bullshit point to make in an argument. Nearly everything is a social construct. The idea that murder is a bad thing is a social construct. Language is a social construct. Trade is a social construct. Morality is a social construct. Private property is a social construct. Proper etiquette for interacting with people is a social construct. Not throwing shit at each other is a social construct. Not streaking in public is a social construct.

Race is probably one of the very few things that is not a social construct. If I stand in the desert for 1 hours, I will get sunburned; that has nothing to do with society. The different cultures that go along with different races is a different story.

Society must have some form of coherency in order to function properly. If you break that, then civilization falls apart. Different cultures have different norms that they follow and as long as it works for them, it's fine. But when you start throwing different cultures together, you can get a lot of tension. The Germans seem to love nudism but if you do that in public here in America, you're likely to get arrested. If you want to change American culture to have public nudity be more socially acceptable, that's fine just don't expect society to go along with it peacefully just because it's "only a social construct."
User avatar #48067 to #48065 - feelythefeel ONLINE (09/24/2013) [-]
The problem is that some people would tell you that such "Social constructs" are intrinsic parts of human nature or even nature itself. At the very least, the phrase serves to point out what should be obvious yet for what some reason isn't, that a lot of how we interact is a product of social means.
User avatar #48068 to #48067 - pebar (09/24/2013) [-]
It's the whole nature vs nurture debate. Everything on the nurture side is a social construct. The communists would tell you that greed is a social construct and could potentially be eliminated. I disagree; I think the egoist behavior we see everywhere, even if left-wing countries, stems from the inherent drive for self-preservation. It takes so much more to change someone's nature.
User avatar #48058 to #48054 - feelythefeel ONLINE (09/24/2013) [-]

I was told today that we should all be a community by a liberal professor. He said he hated libertarians because they wanted to replace community with Laize Faire system.
To which I replied, well what if the community dictates that I should be straight, married, two kids,Christian, nice house and a dog?
Him: You are cherry picking
Me: Yes I am. But aren't you as well?
To this I must say, if the community (meaning government) is to have full authority to dictate my life then you must throw out the ideals of democracy because they might corrupt "the perfect system" and have the "community" be able to dictate what ever it pleases.
The idea of oppression is limited to their really ill informed ideas of what the Nazis are like because when I heard them talk it sounded exactly like something byposted would say. They refuse to believe that government can be bad in any way shape or form. And the worse part is that they make the mistake only children should make.
Getting emotionally attached to the politics or even worse party they support.
Now I like them well enough they are a friend of a great English teacher who challenges you to think if you are not political or a writer. He is able to display his politics well and even better live them. We disagree civilly about where power should lie but he still remains one of my favorite teachers. Mostly because we can find common ground. But these professors their politics are a crusade. A battle to be won and they place this fight over their careers and duty to provide the service that was paid for.
I could tell now that I scare them. I'm too well informed and understand their arguments too well. Its been too long since they have dealt with a college student or someone who is well informed rather than a blank sheep like state to imprint their desires upon in this factory of slavery. I scare them not because I disagree but because I know why I disagree and why their over the top no moderation view point is flawed
