In all seriousness, I don't differentiate much between mothers and fathers and the lessons they teach their kids, especially with homosexual couples slowly becoming more prevalent. The real benefit comes from having two parents with different worldviews who both love you. Some of that is undoubtedly shaped by their upbringings within their respective genders, but there's no reason why a strong male figure couldn't teach you the values of compassion or love. You appreciate that your father's doing what he can, and that's the best you can do for your situation.

Something that I feel must be said that I fear won't be before replies start pouring in is that you're not going to get a straight, coherent, or most of all universal answer. First and foremost, growing up with a single father from an early age is something that few people have gone through, and few people could imagine growing up without a mother. It would be incredibly hard to articulate something to someone with no conception of what you're talking about. Another thing - you're probably not going to get any manner of objective answer, simply because everyone's experience is vastly different. Some mothers were overprotective, others overbearing, some wanted their children to succeed in school more than anything, and others made sure that their child to be able to take care of themselves in the big bad world. I'm sorry that I can't do more to help, but I can't think of a way to present such an experience that you may truly understand it.
