Get a white t-shirt. In permanent marker write on the front "I'm going to prom with" and with magic marker write a bunch of names then your name in permanent marker. Leave on her car or door step with a note that says "Wash Me". After the wash it'll only leave your name. Boom, date.
User avatar #122892 to #122876 - iridium (03/19/2014) [-]
"Hey, wanna go with me for prom?" "Hey, will you be my date to the prom?" No need to make it that special. I know a guy who went with his female friend, and they had a very romantic time despite not dating nor really having an interest in it. Even if you actually want to go out with this person it shouldn't be too hard, and hey, rejection isn't the worst thing ever either.

In my experience, prom is a bunch of shit anyways. My school's prom was nothing but awful popular and/or EDM music, a bunch of couples grinding on the dance floor (seriously, me and my friend went and danced like idiots. Neither of us actually danced regularly, we just did because it would have been boring otherwise, and yet we actually got COMPLEMENTED for our dancing ability by other students), and all the sugar we could fit in our gullets (punch, chocolate fondue, cake) while wearing a 100$ rented tuxedo. Maybe yours might be better, but judging by what I've heard from other people's proms it isn't that much different for most. Don't let that sway you from going (unless you're neither going with a date or going stag along with a number of buddies, in which case don't waste the money), but don't get your hopes up for "something special" unless you know what it is in advance.

I think I get anxiety while flying. What are some symptoms of anxiety, for those who have it (or have knowledge about it. I Googled symptoms/responses of anxiety, but I'd like to hear what you guys have to say).

Yes, I am going to speak to a doctor about it. I just want to hear some outside information about it beforehand.
User avatar #122895 to #122871 - iridium (03/19/2014) [-]
People get anxiety about a lot of things. It's a natural response to stressful stimuli.

Clinical Anxiety is when a person feels exceptional amounts of anxiety over a considerable length of time over something.
User avatar #122897 to #122895 - thedudeistheman ONLINE (03/19/2014) [-]
From the time it starts to the time I touch down after the trip is what I would consider a considerable length.
User avatar #122898 to #122897 - iridium (03/19/2014) [-]
By considerable length of time I don't mean in succession. I'm talking like months. But that's for a clinical diagnosis of what is called "clinical anxiety disorder". I think I was probably just being a bit pedantic there with the word "anxiety".

What I suspect you have is a phobia. If you're having anxiety over flying, anxiety itself is likely a symptom rather than the disorder itself.
User avatar #122899 to #122898 - thedudeistheman ONLINE (03/19/2014) [-]
I hadn't considered that. I don't know if it's really a fear of flying itself, though. I have to think about this some more. Thanks for your help.
User avatar #122901 to #122899 - iridium (03/19/2014) [-]
I don't know if there's a term for it or really much in the way of research of it, but there can be subconscious reactions to things that maybe aren't quite the same as whats in your active conscience. Like I myself didn't actively feel grossed out at all watching a doctor remove one of my toenails, yet I still found my body got nauseous while I was watching anyways. It might not be anything like that, but you may find yourself just feeling natural anxiety to something that doesn't make you mentally afraid.

If you aren't actually afraid to step on the plane, but start getting physically stressed out while the plane is flying, then I don't think it's a phobia though. Do you feel motion sickness at all?
User avatar #122902 to #122901 - thedudeistheman ONLINE (03/19/2014) [-]
I do feel sick, but I think that's because I'm so tense from thinking about getting sick that I start to feel sick from the anxiety. I didn't use to get motion sickness on planes, or get all tense.

It usually starts a day or two before I leave, if that's useful information.
User avatar #122903 to #122902 - iridium (03/19/2014) [-]
Hmm. I don't really know then. It could just be an anxiety disorder relating to one thing. Afraid I don't know enough about the topic to offer much in the way of practical advice.

Burn more calories than you intake = weight loss, no matter what.

Weight lifting = building muscle, and requires a lot of fat for fast muscle growth as well
Cardio = burning fat, but if you do not get your proper calorie intake, you lose muscle as well.
#122838 to #122835 - anonymous (03/19/2014) [-]
if you want to lose weight you can excercise dieting
User avatar #122837 to #122835 - thekillerwalrus (03/19/2014) [-]

User avatar #122956 to #122837 - faithrider (03/20/2014) [-]
don't believe that all that much. the problem misticalz has is that he never mentioned everyone is different. for example, i have not stopped eating the way i always have, but since i started my job at staples (about 8 months ago) i have lost weight. the job involves lifting heavy printers and shredders and being constantly on your feet. because of all of the lifting and walking i do i have lost a ton of excess fat (my weight hasn't really changed since it all really just transfered to muscle) for example my pants that i bought when i started working there were too big for me after about a month and a half of working there. in addition now after almost 8 months, i can fit into some of the larger medium size shirts (because some brands mediums are just a little bigger) which i haven't been able to wear ANY mediums since about 8-9 years ago.

Thanks :3=
User avatar #122844 to #122837 - misticalz (03/19/2014) [-]
Not really
you're not going to lose weight if you eat over the amount of calories recommended for your heigh+age.
You'll just build muscles, which will make you look fatter because muscle is under fat
User avatar #122846 to #122844 - thekillerwalrus (03/19/2014) [-]
Thanks, cuz I eat a lot, but I go to the gym 5 times a week and do cardio and strength training. My gut is still there, but I'm not losing or gaining anything. So that is why I was curious if I should just do a diet too lol.

Alright, I dated this girl for a little while and everything was great she was slightly depressed but I could always make her laugh when she was down but one day she broke up with me but said she would want to date me again in the future, so I recently asked her about it and she said when she wanted a more serious relationship. I've been hung up on her for a couple of months now and she's seeing someone else. The two of us have maintained a phenomenal friendship but I want her back so bad and I'm getting desperate. I haven't told her how I feel, but i want to know if there's anyway to get her back. I miss her. Or if I should just move on.
I apoligize for poor English.

I know this feel man.

Talk with her about it and if she doesent want to be with you, remove her from your life. A real friendship between a man and a woman is something very very rare and obviously wont work in your case since you want her but she doesent want you. Avoid her and move on with your life, its going to hurt alot for the first few months but time will kill all the pain. Eventualy you would stop thinking of her. Hold on brother, I'm here for you.

Dropping out of university, not talking to my friends in several months, being sick for a very long time. And working in a kindergarten for the past 4 months has been pretty stressful.
Might've just been too much, and my body (or brain i guess) finally reacted to it.

I wish i could give better advice
Try some kind of hobby to reduce stress
If you're a gamer, try playing relaxing games and staying away from tense, action packed games.
Listen to relaxing music, like Reggae or Smooth Jazz
Weed might help if you're into stuff like that.

It's okay. Just talking (or writing in this case i suppose) with people about it actually helps a bit.
And i have enough help to keep it from getting too bad
I'll be fine, it's just not always easy to remind yourself that nothing will happen.

1: Sport (leisure-relax, but long periods)
2: Hang out with peeps, sleepover, bbq, pillowfight, pillowfort
3: Bob Marley
4: Get out of your hometown (or at least your house for more than 5 hours straight)
5: Have fun
6: Think about cats, quantum mechanics and flowers
Good luck matey ;)

Thanks, will attempt to follow that advice
I actually sleep with my two cats at my feet, lol. That strangely helps a little.

Is there any way to find out if this site (www.collectorsarmoury.com.au/Militaria%20Sales/Toy%20Guns%20Pistols.html) is legit?. I'm looking for realistic prop weapons for some short films

yolo it

do they need to be blank-firing firearms? If not, then just invest in some blowback airsoft pistols and add the fire effects through your editing software
User avatar #122808 to #122807 - timelordjam (03/19/2014) [-]
Well....airsoft guns are illegal where i live, and i dont feel like buying 5 dollar market ones.
User avatar #122818 to #122808 - myfourthaccount ONLINE (03/19/2014) [-]
hmm, wierd. I'd say the reasons for outlawing replica guns are greater than outlawing airsoft guns but I guess lol.

Anyway, I don't know to be honest, never shopped from the site so I can't say if its trustworthy or not.

Sorry I wasn't any help
User avatar #122822 to #122818 - timelordjam (03/19/2014) [-]
It's no problem, even if you could help it wouldnt really...help. Turns out they ship literally every where besides my state

how about amazon-ebay and such?
to see if a webpage is trustworthy, install "WOT" (web of trust) addon

though it looks good enough, not sure

What's the difference between persuasive essays and deductive essays?
User avatar #122785 to #122764 - nsfwcontent (03/18/2014) [-]
Deductive is to break down and analyse the topic of discussion in the essay and persuasive is to try and convince the reader of the essay of something (usually about the topic)
User avatar #122779 to #122764 - hawaiianhappysauce (03/18/2014) [-]
There is a difference? Both follow the Premise - reasoning - conclusion
#122783 to #122779 - anonymous (03/18/2014) [-]
well got an email saying i gotta write a deductive essay by next class but the instructions seemed like a persuasive essay. thanks!

So today at school some kid told this girl that I'm taking to "Fuck you" and pushed her desk. She came out of class and told me about it and I was just kinda like "Yeah?" and "What's his name again?" and "Oh, you said he looked like what?". So we went back to class and immediately after I walked from my class two doors over to his (and this girls) walked past the girl and said "Where'd he go?" when I didn't see him come out. So she started pulling at me and I kinda brushed her off and went over and stared through the window at this kid until the girl grabbed me and started pulling as hard as she could so I let her take me and we went home. But what I was going to do is grabbl this kid by the collar, throw him into a brick wall and threaten to break his jaw (which I plan to make good on the deal) if he ever talked to her again.
1. Is that a good reaction?
2. Should I have waited for him to come out?
3. How did the girl see me for wanting to do this?
Now I didn't tell anyone what I was going to do (except for the girl when she asked me until I told her the truth, I was saying that I just wanted to talk to him), but how do you think the girl saw me after all that?
I still plan on "talking" to this kid tomorrow.

As long as you weren't creepy or an asshole to her about it then you're fine. Its okay to worry. I saw your previous posts and it seemed like nothing more than a typical person being a little too worried about their crush.

Okay I need to ask this because it's fucking me up daily.

I'm currently in a long distance relationship for the first time in my life. I'm fairly sure I'm very much in love with the girl and spent christmas through to the start of february with her and her family. It's all going well we're really happy together. We trust each other so it's not one of the usual things about long distance.

However the part that I need the advice on is this. She has cancer, or at least thats the easiest way of putting it. She's currently going through a year of chemotherapy and also radiation. However I'm not conflicted about staying with her but it's the long distance is killing me and I was just wondering if anyone has ways of coping with this kind of thing because so far i'm putting on a brave face for her but dying on the inside and I'm too scared to tell her because right now this isn't about me.

So all i'm asking is if anyone has any coping mechanisms for this sort of thing

Thank you in advance

you're looking for something or someone to tell you it's going to be okay. that even though we don't actually know you, you are a special mother fucker who can rise above.
so you lost your father last year. that sucks i know. my best friend lost his dad when he was 15 and my own father lost his when he was only 13. but they coped with it. my friend is in business school and is soon to be engaged. my dad, well he achieved the american dream and is CEO of his own multi-million dollar company. this is no bull shit im rich because of this man's hard work.
the point is this. they both lost their dad and did fine. you will too.
