Marathon running? I'm a 16-year-old, ran 16 miles yesterday, and I feel like I could have done more. I just want to be safe, or maybe tips for hydration, fuel, goals, etc. Thoughts?

Usually over 20 km is reserved until you stop growing due to the demands on your body. Run that long will cause damage to your joints on a road and if you dont have a proper training plan

Stay hydrated before the run, make sure you don't over drink so you don't feel bloated or need to pee during the run. During the run, drink in small amounts and somewhat frequently as needed. Again, during the run, don't over do it so you aren't to bloated or get stomach cramps. Marathons usually have water stations spaced out during the race, but if you are running just to do it or practice and don't want to carry a bottle, you can look into buying a "Camelbak" and is pretty much a backpack that holds water and some have a small hose that runs to your face so you can sip with ease :P.

Drinking during the race is a small part, make sure you're hydrated before and re-hydrate after.

Keep a good pace and consistent breathing. It's always great to push yourself, but know your limits. Change terrain if possible, challenging yourself on hills, pavement, etc. You set your own personal goals, keep it realistic.

Don't give up!

I don't know much about running marathon but you should definitely drink A LOT of water throughout the day if you run like that often.

I need help with my gymnastics homework...

What kind of food should I eat if I need to eat something before exercising, but I don't want to feel so heavy?

Let's get some stats and goals going:
- Height: 1.87m (6'1.62")
- Starting weight (before lifting): 63kg (139lbs) with 15%bf (skinny-fat disgrace)
- Current weight: 72kg (159lbs) with 12%bf
- Short-term goal: 70kg (154lbs) with 9%bf
- Long-term goal: 76kg (167lbs) with 9%bf

I know I'm too light for my height, that's thanks to my bones; they're probably empty like pigeons'

That feel when you take 2 days off to recover and have a decent time but all the aches and pain that you masked during your workouts come out and slap you in the face.

I never benched until a few weeks ago so I had to start benching near nothing. Since then, I've gone from 35 to 53.8 pounds (have two 4.4 pound weights for some reason). How often should I raise the weight and by how much?

Also, what's the best shake for post weight lifting?
User avatar #6616 to #6612 - hybridboxll (10/22/2012) [-]
I like O.N's Whey Protein.
You can probably get away with adding anywhere from 5-15lbs each week; use the maximum possible weight with which you can do the same number of repetitions as last week.

Smoking pine needles is a very effective way to relax the body, and prime it for a workout.

Seriously, I never truly knew about this until just recently. I was walking to the gym and I saw a group of people smoking somehting that seemed mishapen. I asked what it was and they all said pine needles. I never noticed them before, but they all have been going to that gym for years. They told me how it helps them to feel calm, cool, and collected before getting an intense workout in. I didn't believe them, but I did some research on it, and it really helps.

PS. Don't do the loading phase, just take 5g once a day, every day; I just mix it into my post-workout shake.

Your arms are huge, BUT,
Diet is more important than exercise when considering tone.
Core is THE most important exercise, and from the pic you need to do more. Don't sweat it just put in some 8-minute abs or weighted sit ups, leg lifts with your routine.

How to do squats properly? I've been overdoing them like a retard and my knees hurt as fuck for a while, while my thighs and bum didn't feel strained at all. I think all the pressure and weight went straight onto my knees.

TL;DR how do I do squats without causing harm to my knees?
User avatar #6598 to #6595 - lopaa ONLINE (10/21/2012) [-]
Try lowing the weight you are using and make sure you are doing a full squat where your legs are going just below parallel like they do in the Olympics and once you have your form build the weight up. this will give the joints in your knees time to build up strength so they are able to support the weight or they will be weak and it will just be bone on bone causing a lot of pain.
#6597 to #6595 - iamphoenix (10/21/2012) [-]
Keep your back straight throughout the movement. Start with the bar on your shoulders and aligned directly over your mid foot. Push your butt out as you lower the weight and keep the bar over your mid foot. Stop when your thighs are parallel to the floor and push up through your heels. Make sure your back is straight and the weight is pushed through the heels, not the toes.

ever since it was made a couple months back

DO YOU EVEN LIFT?
User avatar #6589 - Totaler (10/21/2012) [-]
Ok, I have a question involving knee injuries.

Two separate incidents a few weeks apart caused damage to the IT band ligament and strained one or more of the hamstring muscles in the same knee.

The chiropractor suggested heat on it, and wearing a tensor bandage when I walk a significant amount. Problem I have with this is usually it's fine when walking, but hurts more when sitting, and the tensor bandage hurts like a motherfucker.
