Does anyone know any bands/artists similar to Two Steps From Hell? I love their music and own every album. I have Immediate Music but that's the only other band/artist I've found.
User avatar #64434 to #64376 - infamoustrapper (05/29/2013) [-]
There's no BANDS like that. Just composers. Two Steps From Hell isn't really a band is it? Do they tour? I'm 95% positive their sole purpose is to make trailer music that movies buy.
User avatar #64452 to #64434 - Emers (05/29/2013) [-]
That's basically all it is is movie music. I have soundtracks to movies and such, I did find other composers like them from pandora so that helped a bit.

They can be funny from time to time but like most "fun" bands, they get annoying if you listen to them too much...

Can any of you wonderful people recommend a cheap but good (obviously not fantastic) midi interface? Just something I can plug a 1/4 inch or an XLR into for recording guitar.

That's unfortunate that you to miss Havok's exams. Maybe they might fail and have to rewrite them and you could watch those?

Does anyone know any heavy bands such as Lamb of God or Cannibal Corpse? I've started listening to these two, and want more heavy music, but don't know any other bands

Arch Enemy
Through The Eyes Of The Dead
Dark Tranquility
Thy Art is Murder
Dying Fetus
Killswitch engage
Children of Bodom
All That Remains

Might not like all of what's there but like Sjakk said they're pretty unique.

User avatar #64320 to #64318 - anonymoose ONLINE (05/28/2013) [-]
Not a massive fan of Lamb of God, but people I know who like them also seem to like: Pantera, Chimaira, Machine Head, Gojira, DevilDriver

If you like CC, I'd highly recommend Necrophagist, there's also a band called Cannibis Corpse who are a marijuana themed mock band of Cannibal Corpse. Other bands similar to CC are Deicide, Severe Torture, Dying Fetus, Behemoth
User avatar #64325 to #64320 - ntxjoker (05/28/2013) [-]

hey guys I have a really big dilemma,

I always wanted to get into music but I have no money for computers or gadgets or anything,

I'm really asking for advice on where to start
User avatar #64385 to #64288 - bobbybeats (05/29/2013) [-]
Learn a little music theory. What i did was that I got a cheap keyboards and a labeled every white key to the corresponding note.
User avatar #64368 to #64288 - ineptinevitability (05/28/2013) [-]
I might be able to give some advice. First off, I'm assuming you own a computer of some sort, since you're on here. You don't need anything fancy to get started. I started with a $400 pc with a half gig of ram that was 5 years old. The thing about techno and electronica in general is that you don't need fancy equipment. You can essentially compose with your mouse in the programs. I'd suggest mu.lab the free version (that's what I use). I've been making music for more than 3 years, and I still haven't paid for software. Do you have any instruments or do you have knowledge of music theory?
#64315 to #64288 - graphenz ONLINE (05/28/2013) [-]
Ok. I'm not big or anything but I've made some numbers since I started making music a couple of years back. I've been singing for a year and playing guitar for 3. Just play, play, play, play and then when you get an idea record it (get a studio mic, you can get a decent one for around 150$) always record and listen to them from time to time to get an idea if you're moving anywhere. Also get Cubase (Yarrrr!!) and learn to use it for recording etc.
I made this yesterday. I'm not very good at mixing or using cubase but it's just basic chords and a kick ass voice
#64293 to #64288 - anonymous (05/28/2013) [-]
play instrument or whatever, find a band if thats the goal, get good, go play on a open scene, get spotted.

not that hard but also the hardest

Description of this album from a friend listening to it while driving to my house at night:

"I felt like I was going to come around a corner and there would be a two-headed deer made out of stone standing in the middle of the road."

Honestly didn't like 30stm new album to much. to electronic and dancy for my taste..especially since theyre known as an post grunge alternative. but then again genres arent place holders. Idk the chorus production from kings and queens I fellt was put into every other song.

tell me what you guys think..im usually Unforgivenfive but my accounts been having problems lately
