User avatar #113912 to #113774 - lorkhan (05/20/2014) [-]
She's a lame artist, covering a lame overrated band. Couldn't mind it less.
User avatar #113899 to #113774 - anonymoose (05/20/2014) [-]
Everyone is going to completely ignore this, not listen to it and say it sucks simply because the internet is currently hating Miley and jacking off 24/7 to everything Beatles.

She has a good voice, she did well with this song. Didn't do it any horrible injustice.
User avatar #113786 to #113774 - misticalz (05/20/2014) [-]
It'd be good if it wasn't the Beatles.

I'd be hard pressed to think of a person more irrelevant to my life or music tastes than Miley Cyrus. So, the same I think of a dog scratching its bum, I suppose: it exists.

It's pretty good. Not very content with the drums though, they sound kinda flat. And the singer really needs to decide whether he's going to sound tough or vulnerable or sweet or what. But other than that, the riff's pretty catchy, and the mix is very well done. Not particularly booming, but very clear.
User avatar #113770 to #113769 - thebestpieever (05/20/2014) [-]
Really should fix those drums, though, 'cause I really like his work. He's just not very well recorded or not well integrated into the mix.

You mean "edgy-ass teenage rock with metal influences that you know is shitty, but it´s kinda catchy, too, so you find yourself listenting to it in your darkest and most shamefull moments" ?

I think that´s the professional term for the genre.

Seriously, tho, Three Days Grace are kinda the same thing.

You might try Stuff like Parkway Drive (Leviathan I, Home is for the Heartless) and Stick to your Guns (Amber, This is where my Heart Lies), tho - they work with hard riffs and catchy refrains, too but aren´t exactly as embarrassing. Kinda different stuff, but they come to my mind for no reason.

Hey is there anyone here that plays the acoustic guitar? I've been thinking if I should learn how to play it for a long time now.

The main question I want to ask is how long would it take for someone who knows nothing about music to be able to play perfectly, I have all the time in the world but I still want to have an idea on that.

The second thing is would I be able to teach myself how to play it using online guides as well as book? Mainly since I probably wouldn't be able to throw money for lessons.

Have a random cat for your help.

User avatar #113753 to #113744 - thebestpieever (05/19/2014) [-]
If you've got the mentality and practice around an hour or two daily, around a year so you don't fuck up chord changes and you don't get those pings playing, and you know your instrument reasonably well.
User avatar #113747 to #113744 - ultrablue (05/19/2014) [-]
Just depends. Motivation is key cause learning an instrument will never be easy at first, but sticking with it will help get you over the inevitable barriers that come with being a beginner.

As for the lessons thing, it's hard to say. I first started off teaching myself, and I looked up tabs online to learn songs I liked. I knew power chords, since they're easy, but then I took guitar in high school, and that taught me regular chords and how to apply sheet music to the guitar (I already knew how to read music from playing the saxophone).

In summation, you can teach yourself to play, sure. But if you do that and you find yourself not progressing at all, it might be beneficial to take a few lessons to figure some stuff out that maybe you couldn't learn on your own. Just depends. Everyone's different in terms of this stuff.

I want to say they're nothing special, and to be honest the instrumentation is not, but I find the vocalist's voice really alluring for some reason I can't put into words.
User avatar #113739 to #113738 - lorkhan (05/19/2014) [-]
Indeed, his voice is quite naggy. And one can hear the british accent very clearly, but for me its the up-beat lyrics and pace thats draws me in.

Actually his "naggy" voice is making me like it even more. Its hard to find new bands to listen to, but this seems like a worthy candidate.

I don't see why it was necessary. It feels like a cash grab and a cry for attention rather than a genuine homage to his legacy.
User avatar #113718 to #113714 - thebestpieever (05/19/2014) [-]
I also felt it wasn't as well done as it could. Perhaps it's because I probably clock around 1000 hours watching his videos, but right off the bat his face has a much more manlier and sterner look than usual, and overall the movements fell jerkier and more aggressive than the ones he used to do. So, appreciate it, nice little bone, however manipulative. I could live without it and it could have been much better.
User avatar #113721 to #113718 - qpcugh (05/19/2014) [-]
I agree it was a little rough around the edges, but to be honest, I would shell out a good amount of money to see that in concert. Yes he's dead, but he is certainly not forgotten, and the fact that were able to do something like this makes me happy, especially when I think about others they could do it with. Ever since Tupac's concert from the dead, I've been waiting for Selena Quintanilla to make her kinda sorta return but I'm sure that's a long ways away.

Looking for nice long lasting in-ear phones. I don't know much about this stuff, price is meh, but prefer some less expensive ones. I listen to I don't know. I think pop rock and like metalcore deathcore things. Never understood musical genres. I don't like muddy bass sounds from dubstep noises if that helps. I like clear sounds. Anyone have anything? I'm copying and pasting this on a few other boards because I don't know if I'm in the right ones or not. Could be advice, music, or technology.
