Never found any American band that blends techno & metal better than Eisbrecher. Hell, I've never found any American band that does it.
If ya could point me in the direction though, that'd be cool, instead of stating that without proof.

User avatar #115253 to #115251 - drldrl (05/31/2014) [-]
Nope. Industrial metal uses traditional metal instruments only, with dance beats. This uses techno. KMFDM, Rammstein, Eisbrecher, Hanzel und Gretyl, Megaherz, and a bunch of other German bands are all making this shit called Neue Deutsche Härte, or New German Hardness, and it's all like this.

You don't just add modulator and tape stop every 2 seconds, gotta leave some empty places so that the music can flow and not be a broken mess even if broken messes sound good www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5hhFMSAuf4 truglitch4lyf

Plus if you're using fruity loops, learn how to use sytrus and automate that shit. You'll be surprised how good it will sound when you play with the modulation.

Aesop Rock - ZZZ Top

The song ZZZ Top by Aesop Rock is something I think you guys would like. It's produced a bit like a rock song, by Aesop. Each verse is form the perspective of a teenager with their own issues, reflected in three groups, represented with Zs

The first one is pretty obvious, Zepplin.
The second is the Zulu Nation, Afrika Bambaata's initiative to convert Gang Members into a unified community.
And last is the Punk Rock band The Zeroes.

It's a really interesting look at how someone's musical taste can reflect the issues in their life.

What are your favorite albums from this year so far? I've got four that have really blown me away.

Tinariwen - Emmaar
--Bluesy North African music from some guys that have been around since the 80s, I think. At one point, the members of the band were recruited as part of an effort by Gadaffi to form an army from the nomadic people in the northern Sahara. Their music combines traditional Tuareg music, and influences from western rock, blues and reggae.
Kyriakos Kalaitzidis/En Chordais/Ensemble Constantinople - The Musical Voyages of Marco Polo
--Collaboration between musicians from Greece and Quebec, following the travels of Marco Polo through the Orient. Each song brings in themes from different locations Marco Polo and his party visited or passed through.
Vanlentin Stip - Sigh
--Somewhat similar to Nicolas Jaar, on his label actually. Some very moody, watery, detailed and textured electronic music that incorporates piano and sampled middle-eastern vocals that all fit together so perfectly
Algol - Goldilocks Zone
--The newest album by a way too unknown Russian ambient musician, Daniel Kazantsev. A lot of it I think is made with manipulated guitar recordings instead of just synthesizers. The whole album is influenced by the idea of extraterrestrial oceans. Full of what sound like waves of ambience in different textures continually washing over eachother.
User avatar #115212 to #115167 - krizz (05/30/2014) [-]
probably the ones being released by Rise Against and Three Days GRace
#115206 to #115167 - imonaboatman (05/30/2014) [-]
Upside Down Mountain - Conor Oberst is my favorite so far. The song "Desert island Questionnaire" is absolutely phenomenal.
#115198 to #115167 - ultrablue (05/30/2014) [-]
Hmmm for the moment, I'm just gonna pick two. I haven't to listened to tons of stuff that's come out this year anyway, so I don't wanna jump the gun too much.

Damacha - Ding Ding
Instrumental hip-hop inspired by a lot of eastern melodies (particularly China). Brilliant use of samples and the whole thing is varied enough to keep me coming back over and over again. Laid back trippy loveliness.

aNTOJE - Booyung LP
Also instrumental hip-hop, but practically the polar opposite of Damacha. These beats are electronic based bangers. Whole album goes hard as fuck, and I really love the rap features (seeing as I am a big Samurai Outlaw fan). These glitchy, choppy beats are overall fantastic.

It's a great modern post-punk album and it seems to be catchy but also add in experimentation. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9q6WmKCMUYw

Death Vessel - Island Intervals Coming 2nd place Recommend if you like: I don't fucking know, fleet foxes maybe
His beautiful voice over some great psychedelic folk instrumentation. Lot of catchy tunes on this. Sadly a lot of people aren't liking it as much as me.

Francis Harris - Minutes Of Sleep Really close to 2nd for me, but falls to 3rd. Recommend if you like: Jon Hopkins, Luomo and Nicolas Jaar
Amazing microhouse beats with what seems like a lot of jazzy instrumentals. Very dream-like and is a great ambient/microhouse album. Really something special.

ITT: How important is for you the album cover and art?
I think it's a way too important aspect on a record, specially if it's a conceptual album. It plays with what you might expect from the album and how it actually sounds. And there's also the fact that combine visual art with music is the sweetest thing that a band can give you.

Also, post your favorite album covers.

#115105 to #115093 - shibe ONLINE (05/30/2014) [-]
Pretty important in my opinion. When I listen to an album I can think of a perfect place in my mind to fit the music. So if I'm like listening to boards of canada, I'll be thinking of a happy blurry lo-fi place. Because it reflects the music. The album art can really influence where I think of when I listen to an album. However not all the time.

Pic related is one of my favorites. It perfectly represents the album. Really reminds me of when I was a baby going to sleep, in a dark room with little lights. It has that childish look to it plus the music reminds of being a baby. Plus the music seems to remind me of my neighbor totoro for some reason. I absolutely love it.

I would say the album cover may even be more important than the music itself in some ways. I know someone who's name rhymes with Shmeodore who has listened to whole albums entirely because they liked the cover, so I guess if your cover's appealing, it could reach a wider audience.

APC is the less instrumentally demanding Tool, and Puscifer's songs are more fun

I like how APC is more melodic but remaining as progressive. Puscifer sounds too mainstream sometimes, but yeah the songs can be fun.
Tool is great but I listened to APC before than Tool so that's why I have a bit more of love for them.

Is it mainstream because its Pop song writing style, the electronic aspect, or the lyrical concepts? Mainstream is bad when it's unoriginal, I don't feel as if though Puscifer is a perpetrator of such

A bit of the electronic aspect, but mostly the melodies and the excessive ammount of remixes.

yeah, fuck the remixes, but Humbling River, Cuntry Boner, Drunk with Power and Indigo Children are all masterpieces

Humbling River and Indigo Children are really good, so is Momma Sed and Rev 22-20. Can't say the same about Drunk with Power.
And Cuntry Boner is a hell of a fun song.
