Probably cuz they seem to have collaborated with 2 Chainz, even though they always had some connection to Rap and Hip Hop, I didn't like any of their songs that were played on the radio but I really enjoyed their album "Folie A Deux"

User avatar #49007 to #49006 - goochmaster (02/04/2013) [-]
Dude, Jazz spawned a bunch of music genres like rock, rap, country, and others. Just because it's not as big as it was in the first half of the 20th century doesn't mean that it's not significant, because it's a HUGE part of music history. The death of Dave Brubeck is like the death Steven Spielberg.
User avatar #49008 to #49007 - kingnarnode (02/04/2013) [-]
I won't deny that, I'm not hating on jazz, my favourtie musician is a jazz drummer, it's just the plain truth, no one cares about jazz besides old farts and hardcore music fans
User avatar #49009 to #49008 - goochmaster (02/04/2013) [-]
Well just because Jazz isn't very big anymore doesn't make it any less significant. They always have headline news when some obscure rights activist dies, so Dave should have been honored at least.
User avatar #49010 to #49009 - kingnarnode (02/04/2013) [-]
well it was probably headline news in his hometown
User avatar #49041 to #49010 - sluge (02/04/2013) [-]
Jazz is still one of the most popular forms of music; it's rather ignorant for you to say that.
User avatar #49054 to #49041 - kingnarnode (02/04/2013) [-]
oh silly me, I'll remember that next time I here a jazz song at some point during my day besides the elevator
User avatar #49057 to #49054 - sluge (02/04/2013) [-]
Just because music isn't played on popular radio stations or in some shitty malls, doesn't mean things aren't popular.
User avatar #49059 to #49057 - kingnarnode (02/04/2013) [-]
It's not even close to being as popular as mainstream music. Do you really think reporters would want to report on the death of an ancient jazz musician? Fuck no, because they know none of their readers will give a rats ass. Why is this so hard to wrap around your head? News sources like ratings, and the get ratings by feeding the mainstream populace the bullshit they want to hear, and they don't wan't to hear jazz? Pretty simple stuff...
User avatar #49061 to #49059 - sluge (02/04/2013) [-]
I never said it was as popular; I said it is still a popular form of music. Just because a large group of people like a certain type of music, doesn't mean another isn't as good or popular. Pretty simple stuff...
User avatar #49070 to #49061 - kingnarnode (02/04/2013) [-]
Yes popular in terms of music, many musicians and music fans love jazz, I understand that, but the typical jack off doesn't give a damn about jazz, and under that context it is unpopular. I was simply trying to explain to this fine gentlemen why, a jazz musicians death wouldn't be big news... because the average person doesn't care.
User avatar #49073 to #49070 - sluge (02/04/2013) [-]
I can see your PoV, but I think the average person would know about it. It was pretty big though anyway.
User avatar #49074 to #49073 - kingnarnode (02/04/2013) [-]
well sure maybe people would know about it, but it's not the sort of story that will get good ratings

Plenty of people on here talk about electronica and dubstep sure it may get a few thumbs down cause not everyone is going to agree with it. But it pisses me off you act like you're being singled out cause you like electronic music on here cause its all "metalheads" on here. I'd been to several festivals before going to a standard concert (opening act, one or two main acts). One of the earliest shows I can remember is seeing Ok Go at a local festival. I might've been to Warped Tour a year before that or a year after that.

First standard concert I went to was Manchester Orchestra as the opening act and My Chemical Romance/Blink 182 a couple years ago. I missed Manchester Orchestra, unfortunately, but I wasn't too into them at the time. I'm still not a diehard fan, but it'd be nice to seem them at some point.

Favorite concert would be hard to choose. I had a great time at Warped Tour '12 when I saw I Fight Dragons. That was a great show.
