Why are all the best songs over 20 minutes?
Sufjan Stevens- Impossible Soul
Bary Fateh Ali Kahn - Raga Puriya Dhanshri (Early Evening)
Swans - The Seer

Pakistan could get squished by India anyday, they're just letting those plebs chill
User avatar #119565 to #119564 - themagicwizard (06/27/2014) [-]
Sure it could, but then some sweet jammin would be lost forever and we'd be stuck with Indian pop shit.

If Pakistan was there it'd be like the rats having aids and the toilet being filled with the afterproduct of 18 taco bell burritos laced with military grade laxative.

And India was after a piece of that action not too long ago. Really says something about them.

So what do you guys think of my latest EP? Let me know because I'm thinking of hosting a remix/remake contest or doing my own V.I.P.'s on these tracks. Also, would anyone be interested in doing a remix of one of these songs?

i can hear that default sylenth1 preset in tech trance you can't lie to me it isn't there
User avatar #119571 to #119557 - dragonicangel (06/27/2014) [-]
You got me. Sylenth1 is one of my favorite presets, and is the one I primarily use to make arpeggios or to make any decent melody. What did you think of the EP as a whole?
User avatar #119573 to #119571 - shibe (06/27/2014) [-]
the dnb song was pretty cool, the tech trance was lacking but I don't like tech trance that much anyways.

What do you listen to, and with what?

The impedance on the Shure will be pushing it in terms of volume if you're using it with a mobile, while the Audio Technica will be alright with pretty much anything.

The only real benefit to the Shure is a more neutral frequency response. If you have a really eclectic taste, or listen to mostly genres that would be better without a lot of bass, Shure is the way to go on sound alone. The ATH is much warmer and bassier, so I think it'll be a more smooth and thick sound, which might not be as good for classical, rock/metal, etc. Definitely would be better with edm, hip hop, etc.

Pretty much everything else about the ATH is better. Larger frequency response (5-30k vs 15-24k), no need for a battery on the ATH, modular pads, louder, bigger driver, some say more comfortable.

I'd say, assuming you're looking for an overall good, not necessarily a totally sound-quality driven set, that the ATH-M40x is better.
User avatar #119550 to #119548 - peikkonaama (06/27/2014) [-]
I listen to pretty much everything from Spotify, rock, rap, , and I'd also use them for FPS gaming.

I don't see anywhere that the Shure needs a battery, and isn't the frequency of the Shure the 5-30k? Although, I don't really know this stuff at all.

Also, the Shure also seems to have modular pads, at least it comes with replacements.

Sorry for any mistakes etc. I dont really know anything about this stuff.

User avatar #119553 to #119550 - akl (06/27/2014) [-]
Oh shit I was reading the wrong site

Yeah the shure is pretty much better for everything. Just take that whole 4th paragraph and switch ATH and Shure.

Soo I'm assuming that you are using a generic computer DAC then? Both should be fine for you as far as impedance goes.

Fuckking shit I need to stop commenting right after I wake up. So yeah, you should buy the Shure pair.
User avatar #119554 to #119553 - peikkonaama (06/27/2014) [-]
Alright, I'm most likely gonna do a bit more research this weekend, and order on Monday. And yeah, I'm just gonna use them on my desktop, straight to my mobo, and on my phone.
User avatar #119551 to #119546 - peikkonaama (06/27/2014) [-]
Like akl said, those have/are 3 things that I don't really prefer to have. Open back, high impedance, and no detachable cable.
User avatar #119549 to #119546 - akl (06/27/2014) [-]
His choice in options show wayyy different priorities. Those are open back and are 50 ohm impedance. The fact that both of his were closed back suggests public use/a distaste towards blasting music everyone can hear. The 32-35 ohm impedance of the first two also suggests that he isn't using an amp or a super powerful DAC, which means those might not be loud enough and might sound bad because they aren't amped enough.

Morgan Page - In The Air (Mord Fustang Remix)

i wish there was more progressive house like the first one, seriously that shit is great, and the in the air remix by mord is probably my favorite electro house song of all time

eh whatever the fuck it is, it ain't microhouse and it MAY BE deep house, but I don't really see much similarities between it and some deep house group like disclosure.

Richard Wright in his prime 10/10 fav prog
User avatar #119543 to #119542 - shibe (06/27/2014) [-]
ok now prog rock and prog house are nothing alike, prog rock can be a bit arty at times and prog house is usually the same formula of kick clap only for the first minute with a bass ascending, then a SHWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, then you got your melody usually made with some plucked synths and then you still have your bass and the kick clap and you slowly make it rise until about 3 minutes and 30 seconds in you add a saw lead and you keep the melody but play it much louder and with a lot more compression, then repeat that.

So, my phone has only 16GB of space so I plan to transcode some music.
Right now my music is in a variety of codecs and bitrates:
- MP3/CBR 320kbps
- MP3/VBR v0-2
- AAC/LC 256kbps
I plan to transcode these to OGG ~160kbps. Is this a really bad idea? How bad will the generation loss be? Will using MP3 instead of OGG help reduce generation loss? I only use cheap in-ear headphones for my phone so will I even notice?

Also, to anybody that is already a fan of my music (or anybody that hasn't heard me at all), I have a new song in the pipeline that I am really looking forward to releasing. It will be the first release from my second mixtape, which will be entitled 'LAG' (name subject to change).

If you wanna do your homework on me, here is my Soundcloud with 5 songs from my first mixtape, Peace by Piece, on it: soundcloud.com/kali-peace

If you wanna download the whole of my first project, Peace by Piece, then do so for free here: www.mediafire.com/view/yaovb9dvms11zh9/Peace_by_Piece

Shouts out to the dudes already supporting and spreading my music when they can. I appreciate that heaps. Please share my music whenever necessary and possible, but only if you like it. I also love honest feedback on my work.

One love all.
