Cool, I know it is kind of repetitive, but most of these tracks are made for vocals, I am hoping to get a decent rapper/singer to match

What genre is a band like The pillows or The Gorillaz?

Don't listen to Shibe. To him the idea of anything that isn't two sub-genres deep even existing is inconceivable. They're both Alternative Rock, for the most part. Gorillaz has some Trip Hop influences but are not themselves part of it.

This is hardstyle, right? Also, what do you people think of this track? And what can be added or deleted? It's a very rough version, and the audio cut shouldn't be there. I'll fix it during the mixdown.

Could you describe the musical integrity of this?
User avatar #111360 to #111359 - dragonicangel (05/07/2014) [-]
It's supposed to be the tale of a labyrinth of a man's mind and his slow descent into madness. I actually planned on making a whole album/EP thingy that wasn't hardstyle, but I wanted to experiment. Also, what do you mean by musical integrity? It's melodic progression, chords being played, key changes, etc? Is that what you mean?

If you google integrity: unity, unification, coherence, cohesion, togetherness, solidarity, so maybe the question is why is it "good"

A lot of school the coming weeks. So could I have some really calm and minor melodic songs. Unique achords and things that doesn't sound like verything else.

I care almost nothing bout lyrics so even if it's songs about death they'll do.

What's important. No fucking build ups in the end or anywhere for that matter. They can change but they should keep the same calm dynamic.

Aphex Twin - Avril 14th. oh boy another aphex twin song

John Cage: "Dream" This was all I listened to yesterday, I actually found out about yesterday too because of a big argument I started which was pretty pointless to begin with. So something that has made me angry has also lead me to find a nice beautiful song.

James Blake - Tep And The Logic A lot of things by James Blake will work for you.
User avatar #111322 to #111319 - bluzzerstream (05/07/2014) [-]
Aphex feels too digital atm, though. I want more alive music (Alive as in not sounding studio).
The John Cage song sounds good, bit boring sometimes but I'll look more into him.

Loved the James Blade but the echo is a bit too much. Found soem other songs by him now. He's got just a little too much vocals. He should've tried to even it out with the rest of the dynamics but It'll do!

Thank you
User avatar #111323 to #111322 - shibe ONLINE (05/07/2014) [-]
I think the reason avril 14th doesn't sound too natural is maybe because he used prepared piano, something john cage actually came up with, to make avril 14th, that's why you hear that other sound with the piano, I'm pretty sure he recorded that and didn't just make it on a computer

That song is a minimalist song, meaning it will be pretty repetitive, so that's understandable, but trust me that's like one of his few good songs, a lot of his other stuff can seem really weird and sometimes pretentious

James Blakes' earlier stuff is all instrumental. However it is a lot more active and not as calm as his new depressive stuff.

Venetian Snares - Lioness If you don't like this, don't even try looking up anything else by him. His music is chaotic 99% of the time.
Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah Try this
FOUR TET - My angel rocks back and forth May sound digital, but I love it. What do you think of this?

I spent a year abroad in USA, my school is a bitch so had to retake a year, so I'm still in high school. I'm taking Chemistry 2, Biology 2, R-math(just a fancy name for theoretical math) and Physics(along with all the mandatory classes).
Being a year behind your friends doesn't really make you all that motivated for school, so I've been taking it easy the whole year. It was really stupid, and now I have to study like a motherfucker. I'm applying for medicine so I need good grades
