It's really tough.

It's a toss up between Sung Tongs and Merriweather with Spirit They're Gone really close behind.

I can't pick, but on RYM, Merriweather is the only one I gave 5/5 so it's that.

They definitely kill it. I´ve seen them for the first time on a festival that was way to big for it´s own sake, so they had a spot at 13:30 and only had half an hour to play - nearly noone was there, but holy hell, did they manage to make those who were there dance.

Incredible, really.

Megadeth - Washington Is Next Live - Blood in the Water: Live in San Diego 2008 Foo Fighters - Arlandria (Live on Letterman) So, Megadeth has sold over four times the number of records the Foo Fighters have. This shatters my whole worldview. I don't know how to think about these bands anymore...

Well I guess. But ten years have earned them 40 million more sales? It just really baffles me, I knew Mega and other metal acts got big in the 90s but I always thought of them as fairly obscure -save for Metallica- even then. And I always thought of the Foos as this big band that filled arenas and topped charts like nobody's bussiness. But well, what the hell do I know?

Mogwai - Mogwai fear Satan (High Quality) Mogwai

Slint - Breadcrumb Trail I wouldn't say Slint are a better band, because they only released one album, but it is probably the best post-rock album.

Talk Talk - MYRRHMAN - 1991 For some jazzy post-rock, try Talk Talk. I listened to this album quite a bit when I was going through a pretty bad existential crisis, so I kinda get depressed while listening to it, but it's still an amazing album. Also the violin that comes in at 3:50 in this song is one of my favorite moments of all music. It's so beautiful.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKyrULAfvq8 I think explosions in the sky is a lot like GY!BE, but I wouldn't really know, don't listen to them. But if you want more like GY!BE try them out.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFBYdmidOHo and for some experimental post-rock, try Disco Inferno, they're pretty cool.

What happened to having happy names, and not just shit about Satan, death, and darkness? Shit like this is the only reason I don't like some bands.
Let's go back to naming songs after lemons.

well that's not a good reason to dislike a band

music is greater than lyrics

So I asked about a year ago, and I got some really good response, so here I go again;

I'm going on a 4 week holiday somewhere deep in the middle of nowhere. there's lots of untouched nature. I like just relaxing here.

Now I always make a new music list to download. just music to relax, though not too soft-core. rather something without vocals, but I don't mind if there are. something to make me think about stuff and things...

what are you guys recommending I listen to? Give me some of your favorite tracks.

thanks

This may be "too soft-core," for whatever that means, but I like it a lot sparkwoodrecords.bandcamp.com/album/n-1

Also, maybe try this locirecords.bandcamp.com/album/dusk-to-dawn

This is very naturey as well www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mX24Sc-V-k&list=PL9D94308CD541B519

I really don't.
I mean, it totally depends on the mood I'm in. but my lists are always filled with many different genres.

There's a band called the struts opening the 3rd stage on Bohemia that I really like.

I'm pretty sure they're going to be the next big thing.

Huh. I can't spot 'em anywhere on the billing. Also, I hadn't noticed but The Bronx is gonna be there. If I still lived in the UK I would definitely go.

Nah, they were only announced on like Friday so they're not on the line up poster but they're definitely there.

As they are my favorite band, I would naturally recommend all of their albums. Their first self-titled album is probably my least favorite (It's extremely lo-fi, in fact, it was produced on a trial version of Garageband and all of the vocals on it were recorded through the built-in microphone on the macbook used to produce the album). However, their second album, Wavvves (note the 3 "v"s) was definitely a step in the right direction. All of the tracks were definitely written, preformed, and produced better than the previous album. Their third full-length album, King of the Beach as you referred to was my favorite album of theirs, and probably just my favorite album overall. Two years after they released Life Sux, an EP, and then in 2013 they released Afriad of Heights, which was still a great album, it was just written with a lot more emotion, along with many of the tracks not having the thrashy skater-punk tones that were fruitful throughout all of their previous albums. All that being said, I strongly recommend listening to Wavvves and Afraid of Heights. Just as a side note is you're interested, the leader of the band, Nathan Williams, has a musical project entitled Sweet Valley that he works on with his brother. The tracks consist of a mixture of the chillwave and chiptune sub-genres. The album of theirs entitled Eternal Champ is, in my opinion, their best work. (/fanboy rant)

I think even if they're your favourite band you can still make a cut about on what's a must and what not. Or maybe I say that because my favourite band's got over 18 records out so I can't recommend all of them to someone lest they think I'm crazy(er).
User avatar #120195 to #120178 - misteradz (07/02/2014) [-]
Yeah, it can be tough to do that when a group has only five records. However, I did only recommend two of them.
User avatar #120133 to #120129 - kaisakuenkou (07/01/2014) [-]
I'm not into chiptune or electronic at all, really, but I must say, that was very well written. Definitely going to check those two out, thank you.

Soen - Fraccions (Musicvideo + Lyrics)
I really like this song a lot, man. I love the Tool influence and this guys voice is majestic, it's like a mix between Maynard James Keenan and Mikael Akerfeldt.
And both of their voices are amazing.
This drummer is fucking amazing too. I love the triplets too much.
Then again, I'm a sucker for triplets and odd time signatures.
