I already know about it nig. John Cage's definition of music as "organized sound" is retarded. Silence for silence's sake is pretentious and retarded. You plebs only like it because it's from someone who's not that mainstream. If it was on a Britney Spears album you wouldn't be jerking off to it, you'd be calling it retarded. Which it is.
User avatar #122311 to #122310 - shibe ONLINE (07/14/2014) [-]
It's not silence.
User avatar #122312 to #122311 - teoberry (07/14/2014) [-]
The piece itself calls for nothing to be played. Any non-live performance is total silence, else the producer didn't do what cage wanted. If you seriously think listening to the sounds around you is art, your retarded.
User avatar #122314 to #122312 - shibe ONLINE (07/14/2014) [-]
The piece itself is nothing except for the music around you. It isn't saying silence is music, it's saying any sound can be music., and music itself is art.
User avatar #122315 to #122314 - teoberry (07/14/2014) [-]
So Cage makes a pretentious piece to tell everyone what they already knew? What a fag
User avatar #122316 to #122315 - shibe ONLINE (07/14/2014) [-]
You would be surprised by how many people say 'oh it needs rhythm' or 'oh it needs a melody'.
User avatar #122318 to #122316 - teoberry (07/14/2014) [-]
Because that's makes normal music that people legitimately enjoy.
User avatar #122319 to #122318 - shibe ONLINE (07/14/2014) [-]
Yea, and John Cage was an avant-garde composer. Do you expect him to make normal music?
User avatar #122320 to #122319 - teoberry (07/14/2014) [-]
I know pretentiousness is a staple of avant-garade but 4'33" hit that one out of the park.
User avatar #122322 to #122320 - shibe ONLINE (07/14/2014) [-]
true, it probably is his most pretentious piece, can't deny it.

and it's his worst, he's a great composer.

Neck Deep was great, from what I saw. The lineup on the website said Marmozets was supposed to play when I went, and there were even posters at the venue, but they weren't listed on the schedule. I probably would've checked out MC Chris, but I was at another set at the time.
User avatar #122168 to #122167 - ljxjlos (07/13/2014) [-]
Neck Deep are supposed to be pretty damn great on stage, yeah.
Huh? That´s weird, you really missed out on them, then. I´ve seen them at Download and they´re fantastic. I love how the little girl they have as singer looks like she can´t even talk loud enough to make anybody listen and then she goes completely insane as soon as she grabs the mic.
I honestly don´t even know how exactly Warped works...It seems like an aweful lot of bands for one day, how exactly is the whole thing built up`?
User avatar #122173 to #122168 - thedudeistheman ONLINE (07/13/2014) [-]
It would've been pretty cool. I'll have to catch them next time.

There are a bunch of stages set up around the venue. There were ten stages listed on the schedule when I went, and there was another one I found showcasing rappers/hip-hop artists there weren't playing on the same stage as the other rappers, so I assume it was a regional thing. You'd think you wouldn't be able to hear the band your seeing, but it actually works really well. I couldn't hear the other bands at all, save for the time in between songs. And even then it wasn't a problem. There were these two stages right next to each other, but the bands on them played at different intervals, so no two bands were playing at the same time. That helps.

Anyhoo, you can buy a schedule when you enter the place, or just visit a big blow-up thing with all the set times listed on it, and write it down/store it in you're phone. However, the paper schedule also has a map of the place, which is cool. If you have time in between sets, you can eat, go to merch booths, or go to signings.
User avatar #122175 to #122173 - ljxjlos (07/13/2014) [-]
Ah, okay, so it works like any other festival just with more stages...neat.

really a pity that we don´t have warped as big as you guys here in germany. Half of the bands that aren´t even listed as big names play headline-tours around here...

Not to mention that I´d kill to see K.Flay life. NO american rapper ever comes to germany, it´s intense bodyloveing annoying.
User avatar #122177 to #122175 - thedudeistheman ONLINE (07/13/2014) [-]

User avatar #122195 to #122191 - ljxjlos (07/13/2014) [-]

I don't buy LPs, mainly because I have no means of playing them.
User avatar #122215 to #122214 - ljxjlos (07/14/2014) [-]
I like them, they sound neat and look nice.D I bought a player on my 18th, too, because I have a shotload of LPs from my father, so it´s no problem for me...
User avatar #122217 to #122215 - thedudeistheman ONLINE (07/14/2014) [-]
That's pretty cool. I'd like to listen to an LP some day. Haven't had the chance yet.

...Ghost, Devil Driver, Metallica, Linkin Park, Skrillex, Trivium, M.I.A, Anthrax, Cypress Hill, Tenacious D, Billy Talent, Kasabian, Soundgarden, Refused, Offspring, Caligola, Chase and Status, Motörhead, Axewound, While She Sleeps, Halestorm, Awolnation, Opeth, Graveyard and Mastodon.
I think that was it, not too sure, tho.
User avatar #122204 to #122203 - thedudeistheman ONLINE (07/13/2014) [-]
That's a pretty great lineup. Sounds like it was awesome.
User avatar #122205 to #122204 - ljxjlos (07/13/2014) [-]
It was. I´d love to go there as often as possible, but it´s become nearly 60 Euro more expensive since when I was there...which was 2012, btw, I was wrong before...60 euro in 2 intense bodyloveing years...that´s just not okay...
User avatar #122206 to #122205 - thedudeistheman ONLINE (07/13/2014) [-]
That's pretty expensive, although with those names I guess I'd sorta expect it. Still though, it's unfortunate that it's so high.
User avatar #122207 to #122206 - ljxjlos (07/13/2014) [-]
Yeah, sadly these prices are normal nowadays:/ It´s as much as I got for one month of living, tho, so it´s just impossible for me. Maybe when I´m finished with university and earn my own money.
User avatar #122208 to #122207 - thedudeistheman ONLINE (07/13/2014) [-]
That sounds like a good choice. Although getting a t-shirt might put you in debt why are t-shirts so expensive at concerts? Although the merch at Warped Tour was very fairly priced, if not less than what it should be worth, in some instances.
User avatar #122209 to #122208 - ljxjlos (07/13/2014) [-]
I don´t wear too many Bandshirts, so I don´t have that problem, luckily. And I never buy Festival-shirts.D But yeah, the only festivals when I buy stuff on-site is when I earned more money then I need to pay the semester during my holidays...if that happens I just buy everything I see from the money that I don´t save up
User avatar #122210 to #122209 - thedudeistheman ONLINE (07/13/2014) [-]
I usually get CDs or the occasional poster. I do get shirts sometimes, but not always.

"Dream Pop is a genre characterized by an overall subdued atmosphere - from the vocals to the melodies - producing a dream-like, sleepy, or spacious feel. As the name suggests, songs are structured around traditionally Pop-sounding progressions, often with a steady though de-emphasized beat and vocals that are lower in the mix and possibly run through effects so as to offer a more ethereal feel. "
