anyone got some good poses I could put this shark into? Looking for pictures where people are either in a combat kind of pose or an idle pose.

pic related, it's what I'm working on right now, since a selfie was the first pose I came across in my pictures folder.

User avatar #71648 to #71639 - alekksandar (04/19/2015) [-]
Maybe I went a bit overboard and made them a bit bigger than they should be, but her hands are usually big, since I base off hand size based on how much of the face the palm would cover. I guess it kinda works well.

well, looks good so far. You still have lot of work to do, though

I'm not sure if it's a proper critique but it seems way too smudged and with very little detail.
User avatar #71633 to #71626 - vortix ONLINE (04/18/2015) [-]
what your doing is not wrong, its just a stage of the drawing. many artists start by drawing/painting the general idea . you are on the right track, you just need to tighten it up, add more finer and more precise detail. and you are good to go.
User avatar #71629 to #71626 - Nahyon ONLINE (04/18/2015) [-]
That's called pointing out the obvious
but ye, there's not really much to say about it groulgarigon, you gotta block out a little bit more colors/details to actually pick out something. I mean, you got the color sheme properly and all but ye, that's it so far
User avatar #71637 to #71629 - groulgarigon (04/18/2015) [-]
I'm sorry I should have clarified this is just a color study not a 1:1 copy.
User avatar #71652 to #71637 - Nahyon ONLINE (04/19/2015) [-]
It's fine c:
but in that case, you do diddly darn good, you could already imagine how that could turn out if blocked out
User avatar #71658 to #71652 - groulgarigon (04/19/2015) [-]
Heheh thanks! I need to work a little more on my color recognition. The original is much more vibrant.

Here have a cartoon girl.
speech is supposed to be "What did you just say to me?" but in a monotone voice, as to assert authority over who she's asking.
I wasn't sure what to do with the nose so it sorta spins.

I draw them larger then shrink them for FJ.
but in terms of the actual work done, it's easier when it's not complex and there isn't shading.

Really specific request but does anyone have a good ref for speech animations with buck teeth? (two front teeth stick out of the mouth in my character)

I did the frames with the teeth in the mouth first, and when I started editing them to be outside the mouth I realized it would cover up the mouth on the "o" vowel. And it looked odd trying to work the mouth around it so it still showed.

well, when someone runs they don't hold their arms straight forward, usually their back is arched forward and they keep their hands in front of their chest and the elbows a bit elevated on the side.

>I did forget to draw the bones under the collar bone
first advice, use references if you draw existing things
always check tutorials / photos and alikes if you draw things you're new to
be more open for experimenting with more colors and bigger shadows
Simply draw more often
especially draw more

If I wanted to start learning how to draw what would be the first step? I've tried a few times but... I've not had great results.

User avatar #71719 to #71608 - yiffcario (04/21/2015) [-]
Holy hell I know that feel.
The number one thing you have to do is simply draw more, each drawing you finish makes you one drawing better than you were.
Try new things, draw outside your comfort zone(draw things you normally wouldn't or struggle with)

Hot damn I'm a hypocrite.

irishopp.hubpages.com/hub/how-to-draw-learn
A.K.A:
Start with reading trough and doing the exercises of "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards
and then going on to read loomis' books etc.

That's if you wanna get good quickly, at least.
