yeah I need to be looking at a picture to draw I cant do it from my head .

same here the only thing I would do if I were you would be to try and mix up how thick your lines are with the pressure you put on the pencil

This drawing is both a Curse and a great help....Everytime I try to create an original Dragon using your drawing and a bunch of others I have as ideas/references it always ends up looking incredibly similar to this one.
This is driving me nuts..... :3

I know that feel, i still have this sometimes :D
but it's good to hear that it is bothering you trying not to copying because this is very important at the entire art scene ^^ but it's not that bad if you take some features of this one, I didn't invented the fur on dragons idea :D

Yeah, I really don't want to copy, I just like seeing the style that others use and then try using parts and ideas of theirs.
I know, I just can't think of anything/make anything without using the basis of yours....I really like the Face part of it, the hair and the horn are cool but I have other ideas for that, it's just that the face is a perfect idea of what I was trying to make before but never quite succeeded.
I might just sit and scribble loads of random stuff until an idea sticks in my head.

Jeah, this was an concept for a re-design idea for my sona but i had no idea how to make the rest of the dragon so it is only this so far :D
and that's totally ok since you're asking for the premission, feel free to do anything with it :)

and about the question, it isn't that easy to awnser, it's like asking how do you breath like you do.

It is something what comes with time and skill and the amount of inspiration you take over the entire time. My dragons we're pretty similar to yours some years ago, not much knowledge about what you could put on a dragon. but after a 2 years i started to contribute my art on Deviantart and become slowly part of the dragon artist scene. and from there, especially on deviantart, you can see so many different dragon artist and their ideas how to creat interesting charaters with all kind of designs ( shapes, colors, furr, skins, details ). you'll become more creativ with each drawing you see -> each inspiration you take -> each drawing you try :)
That's how i would explain it, well, i agree with the furry dragon thing, that's why this one looks like he is :D

I hope to get better slowly, for now I only draw the heads as like you said, it's hard to think of the body first but I'll get there eventually I hope.

Oh, carefully with that, of course only drawing heads may increas your feeling and skill for them but don't draw only one part of a dragon or leaving out some parts ^^ you should also draw fullbodys, claws, wings and stuff. it should be everything on a similar level, you don't want to draw only high end heads and the bodys itself looks like 2 years ago :D
my problem for example; i always discounted the claws and hands of dragons because they were to difficult to draw, each third drawing were with these simple sock hands ( like in this picture ) and now everytime i draw an dragon completely the claws always look wierd because i don't have that much experience with them like with the rest of the dragon :D
i don't know if you got the message, english is not my native language. hope it's understandable ^^

And I know what you mean, Claws are a pain to draw.
I can just never get the body pose right, it's really hard to do.
Plus, I want to draw a mix of Anthro Dragons and then normal Dragons, so hopefully I'll find some tips and tricks as I go along.
