nice to see you come over. i see your going for a cartoon or chibi kind of style in that sense you on the right track

Oh, and after seeing some work after hours of YouTube I've decided to go with the three heads height over the smaller two heads or larger four. I feel like it is a solid choice. Any opinions? I'm currently studying doing hands, as it was requested.
#67817 to #67816 - speaksinriddles (02/02/2015) [-]
Yeah, I can't decide which though. I really just want a way to illustrate characters from my stories Hopefully giving some incentive to actually read and thumb my content so I can continue making it in good conscious. and I haven't decided which art style yet. I kind of want it to feel at least a little american, as I'd hate to lose my own culture in my art style. With that in mind I looked to styles like Shovel knight, which is a solid blend, has it has the heavy western vibe, as well as the eastern proportions.
#67819 to #67817 - trisketthebiskit (02/02/2015) [-]
shovel knight is an excellent source of inspiration ive done some pieces based on the art style. i prefer using a taller figure and proportions but thats just me the key is to just practice as much as you can the results will follow. you should consider getting a graphics tablet as digital makes everything a bit easier for coloring and such. this is one of the first things i did really when i got a tablet it honestly isnt very good but hey it was my first go at it
#67820 to #67819 - speaksinriddles (02/02/2015) [-]
Getting the body proportions is actually quite important to me, at least I want it to be consistent, and though cartoony, should still be appealing to look at.

I hate coloring though. I may add splashes of red for a Sin City look, but I prefer not to color when I don't have to.

And a Tablet is unfortunately not in my budget. I'm a college student who can't find a job. I've been drawing with a $2 set of pencils, a small drawing book and printer paper my teachers let me have.

hey man its not at all necessary i get the low on cash feeling im about there. just keep up practice and confidence. one thing ive noticed is looking at far more talented people can be a bit discouraging but never let it get you down focus on your abilities and strengths and weaknesses and always work to improve

User avatar #67807 to #67799 - eatcawk (02/02/2015) [-]
dont delay drawing hands.. unless the arm pose was deliberate, dont try hiding the hands, try getting better at them. a small sword like that would look better on the waist imo but its your preference. yea, like anon says, needs more elbow. the face looks a little funny, try looking at 3/4 face proportions or something. the anatomy, at least for me, looks OK but if you arent already, study anatomy. like, literally, muscles and stuff. also, great job.
User avatar #67812 to #67807 - petarmetar (02/02/2015) [-]
So you figured out..yea i can't draw hands so im hiding them. But as i said, this is my 4th drawing i made in a year, and this one took me month. I will not be that kind of professional to go study anatomy haha. I just draw when im bored and very slowly with a lot of undos. Thanks.

heya,need some buying advice.

I need a camera,I can't afford much tho,so 300-400 is my standard maximum, though I'd really like to spend less but cameras are goddamn expensive bullshit .
just standard photo stuff that I need to do,however I want to get some decent video quality as well.
also, maybe some advice on objectives to go along.
remember,I'm a broke bastard that will probably sell the thing in a 2-3 years.
#67786 to #67785 - advice (02/02/2015) [-]
If you're planning on selling it again in 2-3 years, I would look at resellers guides to see what brands are worth the most 2-3 years down the line, then look at an affordable model that fits your needs.

What kind of drawing tablet would you guys recommend for someone who is looking to get into digital art?
User avatar #67781 to #67780 - citruslord (02/02/2015) [-]
Wacom is standard, but overpriced. For a first time buyer, I suggest the Huion H610 pro. Same amount of tablet as a $350 wacom, but for 1/4 the price. It's Chinese, but I have one and it works just as well.

Seriously, Huion should start endorsing me with how many times I suggest this on here.

It just looks Beetlejuice-spell sized to me as is.

work on getting structure down quickly. i did this in 10 minutes from life.
look at the form geometrically, even organic forms have some geometric lines in them that overlap. this gives the sketch more movement and also helps you see mass relations easily.
