I thought the fairy dance arc was far superior.

The first arc was only filler and half assed harem elements where as the fairy dance arc focussed much more on conflict and action. I still think it was a mediocre anime but i thought the second arc saved it from being shit.

Eh, it might have been because I read the Light Novels, but I consider the SAO arc to be superior. They most definitely did it wrong in the anime, as they decided to do it in chronological order, which would make loads of sense if it didn't mean episodes 3-8 were shitty harem-ish episodes. It made it feel like filler, and in all honesty I would have preferred if they had left out the side stories and just elaborated more on the main arc.

However, the fact that there was no longer a feeling of danger in Fairy Dance arc made it weak. Additionally, the fact that the villain in Fairy Dance was just a generic psychopath didn't help much. Sadly, with the exception of *SPOILERS* Heathcliff, the villains in SAO's light novels are like this the whole way thorough.

In all honesty, I hope someone picks the series up like they did with Hellsing OVAs and fixes it, but I don't see that happening as it was a highly popular series already.

The first two episodes, and then the little bits of combat in SAO are still far better than the combat in ALO.

SAO was pretty awesome, ALO was mostly wtf, i'm looking forward to GGO and UW

The issue with SAO after volume 1 is that it seems to get weaker and weaker, although ALO was by far the worst arc(hurr durr let's turn main female into a plot point instead of attempting to develop her). The "villains" get progressively more pathetic, and Kirito's harem grows instead of his relationship with Asuna developing to be a bit more realistic.

I wish they had actually shown, you know, progression through the floors and actual extended combat instead of copious amounts of fanservice and forced relationships.

Here, I just posted this down somewhere below.
Imagine how great the second season could be if they just made it like Kirito and Asuna's two weeks in that little cabin. No action, no development, just the deep and emotional connection between Kirito and Asuna. There would be occasional fanservice scenes when the game glitches and Asuna's clothes disappear. I'd watch the shit out of that, while sitting in my basement, imagining that I was the savior of SAO and that I actually had a girlfriend.

I know. I'm Sambenmaggie. I remember writing parts of that. ;)

Best part I remember is the nurse cleaning them in their beds and the 'fanservice' that would ensue.

Yeah, tonari was a dissappointment. It seemed like it was going to be a toradora-tier romance, but it ended up flopping. I haven't even watched the last episode, mainly because I'm away from my home computer right now and streaming doesn't really work on the computer I'm using.

One of the only good things to come out of this show was Natsume.

Natsume is eh pretty cool guy girl, but she does afraid of everything.

I would love to have a romance anime in the upcoming seasons as good as Toradora, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. You'll see, the last episode just drops the entire anime score...

Seriously the first episode gave so much potential, i really though this would become a contender of my personal favorite anime of the fall. But as the episodes came and went i got seriously dissapointed.

Seems like it's become a trend to trick people with a great first episode and then fucking them over with anti climatic twists.

I dropped it after the first episode.

It started decent for me as well, but around the 5th or 6th episode I just got sick of it. It went from being an 8.5/10 to a 5.5-6/10

Overall it was pretty meh, the ending just made it worse.
