It's a tie between Star Driver, Haganai, and Samurai Girls (Show sucked but I loved the animation).

Hey thread
Do these 2 animation styles count as Anime?
Do these 2 animation styles count as Anime?
Technically yes. Anime = japanese for animation.
but no because it's not Japanese and it doesn't have that.. anime-look to it.

Well, I personally only count something as anime if it's from Japan even if it's in an anime style.

Sorry...This second part is a bitch to upload
There are a few non-japanese animes. I don't thiink all animes are japanese anymore
There are multiple definitions of what anime is. But the one most used is an animation from Japan. So by some definitions other shows like Avatar and what have you will fit. But the one most commonly used would make anything non-Japanese just a Western cartoon or something similar.
I haven't memorised the Internet enough to be able to...
I just watched Mars of Destruction and... what the fuck? (opinions) It's so fucking bad: The storyline is shit; the animation is shit; the OST, the voices and the sound effects made my ears bleed; the characters are as deep as a dried puddle; and to be honest nothing is explained, the ending did it no justice.
Anyway to end my rant, ITT: Worse Japanese voice casting.

Hi guys, I'm new here, I just noticed the existence of this board right now and you all look friendly, I wonder if I can be your friend. I watch a lot of anime, 8 hours of anime everyday for the precision,I watch cute stuff like Lucky Star, K-on! or romantic anime like Spice & Wolf.
My waifu is called Remilia Scarlet, she's from Touhou Project and she's a vampire, we all love vampires, especially if they're cute like her, she has a little sister called Flandre, however I don't like her at all, she's just... meh!
I also play a lot of japense games like 3D custom girl, Yume Nikki, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus etc etc.
I have a lot of rule34 saved on my computer, I might share some if you want, 80% of my rule34 are about Touhou, but hey! let's be friends first!

Hello anime & manga board.
I've got another question for you.
Overall, which is better, anime or manga?
I've got another question for you.
Overall, which is better, anime or manga?
i only read manga when i started before the anime came out, i guess it's what you started a series with
For action series I prefer manga and for SoL, romance, and comedies I prefer anime.
Sometimes it depends. Overall I like anime more than manga but there are cases where I prefer the manga.
hmm...a difficult question if you ask me.
If the animation and voice acting is good, then an anime could surpass it's manga counterpart. Usually I like both equally, but there are a few were the manga is so much better than the anime that I wouldn't even bother watching it.
If the animation and voice acting is good, then an anime could surpass it's manga counterpart. Usually I like both equally, but there are a few were the manga is so much better than the anime that I wouldn't even bother watching it.
Both give different experiences, so I can't pick between the 2.
It honestly depends on the series, but overall I like anime more.
i would say manga but i haven't red enough of it so anime
Ugh.. I love reading manga, but it's faster and often much nicer to watch anime..
So I'm gonna go with the rest and say anime.
So I'm gonna go with the rest and say anime.
Why the hell are you guys even paying attention to those random guys
ignore and move on

So, here's my daily question of the day: in "Naruto", as most of you know, Naruto is the host of a demon beast that can shoot a wave of energy from its mouth. It's been compared to the Kamehameha once or twice, even. My question is, at Naruto's current level in the manga, where exactly on the Goku power scale do you think it compares to the Kamehameha?
Well first of all Goku's power level goes from 700-ish to well over tens og billions during Dragon Ball Z. This shows with the kamehameha goes from being stopped by fucking Radditz to being able to destroy planets in a second.
And you can't really compare the two series when it comes to power. Naruto is more subtle than Dragonball where people have the ability to destroy solar systems, wherein in Naruto the most powerful thing they can do is probably blow up a country.
And you can't really compare the two series when it comes to power. Naruto is more subtle than Dragonball where people have the ability to destroy solar systems, wherein in Naruto the most powerful thing they can do is probably blow up a country.
Not really, it's more that at the end of Dragon Ball Z the most powerful fighters are millions of times stronger than the ones in Naruto, so you can't compare them like that. I don't know if you've watched Gurren Lagann, but I would say that's a more fair comparation to DBZ than Naruto since it works on a level of power where blowing soler systems up doesn't even make the fighters break a sweat.
...why cannot I not stop watching this?

Just listened to FMA (original anime) soundtrack. Noticed that the russian orchestra is playing. It makes me want to watch the original.
So, opinions: If I have seen FMA:B, would I still enjoy FMA?
So, opinions: If I have seen FMA:B, would I still enjoy FMA?
Well, frankly, to get the most enjoyment out of FMA and FMA:B, I would suggest watching FMA first, and then watch FMA:B. I loved them both, but for some reason, watching them the other way around just makes FMA seem completely overshadowed.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first FMA, then Brotherhood just blew it out of the water in terms of pure awesomeness. A LOT of things will be different, but I still felt like it was a good experience. I sincerely doubt you'll like it more than Brotherhood, but it certainly has its merits.
Positives:
-For the first arcs of the actual manga story, the first FMA tried to go as slowly as possible so the manga could keep up, therefore some of these early arcs go a lot more in depth than Brotherhood did. The Nina arc especially comes to mind. She was a character for 4 or 5 episodes in the original FMA, and it made her demise pretty damn powerful.
-Also, the Yoki story. This was ACTUALLY in the manga, as well as the first FMA, but got cut out of Brotherhood for time reasons, and it's a damn good story. That episode by itself is worth watching, especially since it's canon.
-There are several filler episodes in the first FMA while it still follows the manga, however I wouldn't really classify them as bad. I hate filler, but didn't mind these.
Here are some negatives to keep in mind though:
-Way fewer characters. Seriously about 2/3 of the characters don't appear in the first FMA. This includes everyone from Xing, most 2nd tier military personnel and the chimeras, just to name a few.
-Character depth falls a little flat.
-The overall story is not as good, and the homunculi aren't quite as badass. Also, several of the homunculi are different. Bradley is Pride instead of Wrath, and Sloth and "Wrath" are completely new characters.
-Hohenheim. He's about as deep as a spilled puddle of chocolate milk. When he shows up in FMA, don't expect too much.
-The Big bad is no where near as good as Father.
-Lastly, the ending. It's no where near as good as Brotherhood. This is probably where the biggest divide between the series is. I won't say the ending outright sucks, but it's infinitely behind the Brotherhood ending.
Still, if you have the time, go for it. I still liked it a lot.

It's my pleasure. I love discussing anything FMA(B) related.
Yeah, as for Greed, when he dies, he dies. No Greeling incarnation. However the Greed arc is precisely where the manga and anime split, so his death is completely different, and he's killed by someone else.
In general the first FMA series is a lot more one-dimensional. You never get that "everything is falling into place" feeling you get with Brotherhood. It'd be a huge devotion of time to watch all of it, so if you only want to go at it in parts, I'd just say to watch up to episode 9 then. In that span you get the Nina/Yoki/Battle on the Train stuff that got condensed or cut from Brotherhood.
I've also got a second idea. If you read chapters 3 and 4 of the manga, that covers the stuff in the first FMA that was cut from Brotherhood. I would also recommend chapters 26-29 (this is the first Greed Arc) because Brotherhood condensed and changed pieces of it (but the first FMA fucked it up too, so that'd just be an addition...)
(And KIND OF on a side note, I also highly, HIGHLY recommend chapters 58-61 [flashback to Ishval.] This has nothing to do with the first FMA, but it bugs me that Brotherhood didn't really do those chapters justice. Episode 30 of Brotherhood made the war seem like a curb-stomp battle with evil Amestrian soldiers slaughtering Ishvalans left and right. The manga makes it clear that the state alchemists were necessary to use since Amestrian soldiers were dying by the hundreds, and that most soldiers never wanted to be there in the first place. Hiromi Arakawa actually spent a long time interviewing war veterans before writing this part.)

You could do. Brotherhood in my opinion is far superior but I still enjoy the 2003 series in it's own way. Just go ahead and watch a few episodes to see for yourself. And ye the OST is great
Brotherhood: is superior, yes; the animation is better, and the story is more coherent. That said, there's no reason someone who watched one before the other couldn't enjoy the other, as long as they shut up about "But that's not how it was in the other/manga!"
Exactly. To be honest the 2003's own original storyline was interesting to me as I didn't know what was going to happen. It's like black butler, manga is far better but that didn't mean the anime was bad just because it went off on its own at some point.

It's really hard for me to choose, I just put up the ones I'd watched more recently.

Yes very differant taste, I hate generic anime so much. It's so shitty and predictable but I aslo hate romances of any kind. and both.
No. Indeedaleedoo said he/she likes 4 out of the 6 kotor listed. Also, I hate slayers and galactic heroes.
Hm well, ignoring the time when I was very little and watched anime I started again at 12. So I've been watching anime for about 7 years though I will admit I havn't watched that many, just over one hundred. I've been on this board from just before 130K. My first post was kinda shit.
