I'm sorry, my opinions don't really matter anyway...

well, I personally think i may be suffering from social anxiety, my thoughts on the subject is we all do suffer from it quite a bit, seeing as how when we become into a social environment, we tend to start to panic and have a basic mental breakdown, I feel like I am being judged when I walk in to a place, or am in a group or something and going around talking about one's self, it can also happen when being introduced to someone as well, but when I am alone, I am perfectly fine no one to judge me no one to tease or look down at me while alone, same thing applies on the internet because well I will never probably meet that person in real life, so I relax myself, even though people who suffer there Fear ever day it shows no signs of going away, because it will always come back and the fear can get worse, it is hard, because at my job I interact with people every day, and let me tell you... it is by far one of the hardest things to over come to talk to customers... many things trigger the social anxiety, It's hard and for some it can utterly ruin their entire life, I've learned how to kinda cope and manage it, but yet it will still come and hit me pretty hard, It's a hard thing to live with, during my high school years it was extremely bad and well I never went out and experienced almost anything, I just hung out with my close circle of friends and stayed home most of the time, for fear of having a Freak out moment with them, I didn't wanna embarrass them or myself it can hurt a lot of people, its a huge step to even go and meet new people at times, but that is just me, Personally. Social Anxiety looks like it is just another thing that is a fear but if you never had to deal with it, then you don't even know we Face our fear ever day.

Believe me you're not alone, I suffer from it too. And so does 7% of the global population.

I get the same way in public, there are very few situations outside of my house where I actually feel comfortable.

yea it does suck, but hey not many faces one of their fears on the daily grind haha! well there are my thoughts on the subject man so yea, hopefully we can one day all break free the anxiety

My biggest concern is preventing people from using Xanax or Valium to deal with anxiety.

These anti-anxiety drugs are practically human tranquilizers, slowing down brain activity to counter the anxiety. Obviously this creates dependence and constant use of the drug. Which leads to higher dosages and exasperation of their side effects.

I have social anxiety and my GP has tried many times to push the medication onto me, but I've rejected them every single time. No matter how much you suffer or how much your life changes due to a disadvantage, there are always ways to combat it without medication. For example, I'm extremely withdrawn by nature, however I've learned to function outside my own room by simply ignoring everything but my target, and to look confident. Of course, it's difficult for a lot of people but it's extremely rewarding once you get the hang of it. Most people don't even notice I'm anxious.

yea that is a big concern, my older sister she suffers just from depression and well other things... but she has built a dependence upon anti-depressants, and Xanax and Valium to help cope with her problems and well you can tell when she hasn't had any and she starts getting paranoid and such, me personally, I don't wanna take anything that I can do by spending some time alone, or going out side to relax with some music. it's crazy
