1st one is scary, not only because it's the first one that you'll play, but because it has more physiological horror in addition to well placed jump scares. The main character is the same in all three games, but in the first one, you get more of the feeling of a passive and unprepared protagonist. I'd say it depends on how you react to mild jump scares.
