That's what people say to sell the idea of legalizing pot? That it makes you feel good?
Let's NOT mention how hemp is an extremely strong material that can be used to make awesome clothing and accessories that don't wear as easily and how it can be made into a less harsh fuel so we don't have to use oil. Fuck marijuana the useful drug! Hemp alone is the reason we should be growing this shit!

That movie is very "pro cannabis" so that is wrong to say.. yes cigarettes and alcohol can ruin your body, but weed can ruin your brain aswell.. cannabis is not for everyone, you CAN get an addiction from it, but that aint easy for a normal smoker( smokes in the weekend) but you can get in to a psychos from it.. people reports it so it happens, some scientists say it cant and others say it can..

You can become addicted to weed in the same way that you become addicted to video games or pornography; It isn't a chemical addiction like nicotine or caffeine. Also, I've never seen a study that states weed 'ruins your brain.' I know there was a study a few decades ago where they strapped masks on monkeys and fed nothing but marijuana smoke through them for 5 minutes. Some brain cells were damaged, but that's from asphyxiation. The same would have happened had they fed any kind of smoke through the masks. Can you link me to the study you're talking about?

Very informative, thank you. I feel like this is good evidence that, if marijuana ever is completely legalized, the age at which you can legally purchase it should be 18. Do you know of any more studies similar to this one?

errrhmmm... you say weed has no bad effects.
well your memory deminishes, and you may become mentally insane.
these 2 reasons are enough in my mind to ban it :/

Wouldn't it be the individual's choice whether or not he may possibly hamper himself from long-term exposure to THC? I don't know you, so I see no reason why you should be able to boss me around. Especially considering alcohol, many medicines and, to some extent, nicotine have the same and sometimes even more adverse effects.
Marilize legajuana and all other substances. This is coming from someone who doesn't drink alcohol, doesn't smoke and doesn't use any other substances other than the occasional caffeine from Coca-Cola.

They banned it because it was selling more than alcohol. The alcohol industry post-prohibition fudged up all of these "facts" saying how wrong it was and the politicians made it illegal on demand of the public because they believed the alcohol industry.

no your an idiot. until the 1937 (when it was illegal) hemp was used in everything from fuel (which is proven to be better for the environment and would be cheaper then using fuel from other countries) to the shell of the original ford cars. even the declaration of independence is written on hemp. its also a cheaper to make paper from hemp then trees. well William Randolph Hearst (head of the paper industry) didn't like the competition and really didn't like losing so he ran a smear campaign with made up stats such as and this is from a real headline "marihuana" is responsible for murderous rampages by blacks and mexicans. so in 1937 without a good counter argument it was made illegal.

The Declaration of independence is written on Parchament. AKA dried animal skin. Do you really think that would have lasted for this long if it was written on hemp? Learn your facts then "teach" us all about how stoners aren't dumb and smoking weed is good :/
That may be but currently legalization isn't in sight mainly due to big pharmaceutical companies being threatened by weed's perfect anti-depressant and pain killing ability. There's WAAAAAAAY too much money invested in them and legalization would threaten their stocks. They couldn't afford there being a miracle drug that's both an anti-depressant and a pain killer. It's the exact same thing as you're talking about except unfortunately everything else is childs play compared to big pharma, except maybe big oil companies but that's not relevant to this

Oh god this argument crap on legalisation of marijuana.
In short: I support, still wouldn't smoke it, their choice.
Cue the "but it cures cancer" and "is good for you" shit arguments.

yes, weed can damage your lungs, but only for a short while, in our lungs are things called cilia, and if you smoke weed, these can be paralyzed for a small amount of time. your breathing isn't as good as normal, but it doesn't last long. i hate when people say weed is worse for you than cigarettes, it really isn't. also, if you eat it instead of smoke it, it's virtually harmless, if not, beneficial, because it contains plenty of amino acids and proteins, not to mention oils that can help your body.

"Seeds of the plant cannabis sativa, hemp seed, contain all the essential amino acids and essential fatty acids necessary to maintain healthy human life. No other single plant source has the essential amino acids in such an easily digestible form, nor has the essential fatty acids in as perfect a ratio to meet human nutritional needs."
go fuck yourself breh!

yeah, really, if you actually fuckin read a book or anything related to it you would know such things. hemp can also be used as a biofuel, clothing, paper, rope, and pretty much 100 other uses. educate yourself before you call others what you are: a fucktard. good day sir.
TL;DR I support legalization of cannabis.
Actually the US government initially encouraged the growing of hemp (which is related, but not the same as the smokable cannabis plant). The smear campaign "Reefer Madness" made the smokable buds sound evil, when the effects are quite the opposite.
They made it illegal because of the mass belief that cannabis made you a criminal. For some reason, the also criminalized the hemp plant too. Although this was just temporary, during the world war hemp was made legal again, as it was incredibly useful. It can be used to make many things from rope, to paper, to biofuel.
Right after the war though, it was re-criminalized because it, along with the smokable plant could dominate, and ruin the buisness of pharmaceutical, lumber, oil etc. industries.
The US government funded a study where monkeys were subjected to cannabis, and they showed brain damage. What the report didnt say is that the monkeys were suffocated to death with the cannabis, and it wasn't the THC which caused the it, but the lack of oxygen. Thus "proving" it's danger.
Prohibition doesnt work. It's the prohibition that causes it to be a "gateway" drug.
I live in BC, where the main source of revenue in our province is from marijuana, although hidden, cannabis generates 7 billion dollars worth of business, beating out softwood lumber etc.

actually one of the main reasons its illegal is that it is easy to make unlike cigars or cigarettes you cant just simply grow cigars in youre back yard and smoke it this is different for weed since it is only a palnt it requires little or no time to make
