the bible was written by real men. that's an undisputable fact. It's not a coincidence that the ideals and morals of the bible connect with the society back then...

Big Bang THEORY.
It's a theory dude.
Not like everyone who is atheist believes that.
Try looking up the string theory or something.

Well to be honest, that actually just highlights the very basic arguments from both sides and then slightly abstracts them in a comical way. And to be fair, both sides of the issue have good points, bad points, and loopholes that can only be explained as... "because I said so."

I have no problem with atheists, but it's the ones who exceptionally stick out and act like they're some sort of superior race who really irk me.

Hey asshats, not accepting one particular belief doesn't make you a genius, nor does the fact that another group believes in an omnipotent creator make them a moron. You're just another person living in a world full of people with all different types of mindsets, religions and beliefs, none more reputable than the other. Step down off of your ******* pedestal.

I believe in God.

Why the **** should that matter?
Doesn't have anything to do with you.
Doesn't affect your life in any way.

These posts are ridiculous, all they start is **********. The pictures in the comments are always **** we've seen a million times. And if you don't like people's beliefs getting shoved down your throat, then don't shove yours down other people's throats. I have yet to see a Christian make a post to tell me to except Christ or some **** like that or to make fun of atheists. I see this kind of **** almost every other day. Now go ahead and pinkie me down because im speaking the truth.

That's my point. I don't get mad at atheists for what they believe. I seriously could not care less. Everyone has the freedom to believe what they want and even a cupple of my friends are atheists. I dont see why anyone would get mad at what i posted. I simply pointed out that these posts making fun of religious people or their beliefs are common and it's ridiculous. I din't mean any disrespect in any way.

I can take a joke. But after 4 years of being on this site, seeing posts calling you retarded every other day or saying others are superior then you just because of their beliefs gets to you. And im sure every other religious person who enjoys this site feels the same. And i know getting the red pinkies sucks but this is seriously how every religious person on this site must feel since even saying what they believe usually gets them automatically pinkieed down. I dont even know why im getting pinkies up in my original comment. I think that at this point even the atheists are tired of these posts as well.

why does it matter?
because religion makes people do stupid things.
whitout it, the world would be a better place.

you know, i could accept the idea that theres a heaven, a nice place where you go after you die; but having to worship someone your entire life to get there?, and if dont do it you are gonna burn for eternity wtf?.

Religion is just plane dumb. You believe what you want to belive. If it gets you throught the day knowing that if you died right now, that you would go to heaven, then by all means do so. Jus don't ******* bash on us becuase we think that an all knowing "entity" created everything on Earth... If you don't care enough to take the time to form a coherent sentence, then why would you think anyone cares what you have to say? Sentences that appear to have been formed by a chimpanzee repeatedly headbutting a keyboard will only convince others that you're retarded and have nothing of value to say.

Perhaps if you hadn't called religion dumb while misspelling words nine year-olds can spell correctly, people would have taken you seriously. Instead, I think they just laughed at you.

I think that there is a God, since the Big Bang theory sounds absolutely insane to me, since it's hard for to believe that a tiny-ass piece of matter became the whole universe. Yes, I know that there's scientific proof to support it, but still. I'd say that I'm more of a deist (God made the universe, then let everything happen on its own). However, the main reason that I do believe in God, or rather, why I want to believe in God, is the notion of the afterlife. Frankly, I'm terrified of dying, and I hope there's something after life. Pic related if you want it to be.

I wouldn't say it says a tiny ass piece of matter became the whole universe. Basically the Universe was once in an extremely hot and dense state which expanded rapidly. This rapid expansion caused the young Universe to cool and resulted in its present continuously expanding state. After its initial expansion from a singularity, the Universe cooled sufficiently to allow energy to be converted into various subatomic particles. It would take thousands of years for some of these particles (protons, neutrons, and electrons) to combine and form atoms, the building blocks of matter. The first element produced was hydrogen, along with traces of helium and lithium. Eventually, clouds of hydrogen would coalesce through gravity to form stars, and the heavier elements would be synthesized either within stars or during supernovae.

yes we do know extensively about the singularity. however i believe what religion taps into is the thought of what came before that, chaos, the bulk, the void whatever one may call it. A space outside of time.

yes i agree that's what happened. As to how the singularity was created is a mystery is all im saying. Its called the Infinite regression theory, meaning that no matter how far back you can locate the cause of something there will always be another mystery as to how it came into existence. It works for religion too ie: who created god?

I think our natural fear of death is what led us to invent religion in the first place. I'm atheist, and I've come to accept that when I die, that's it. Nothing will be ever again. It still frightens me, but I can't do anything about it. I want religion to stay around however, for people who can't accept death as it is. Fiction is usually more pleasant than reality.

Finally, someone else who understands my theory.
Whenever I think about death, I really want to believe that god exists, but being born and raised in an atheist family has opened my eyes. I do not think of those who believe in religion as arrogant, but I respect them. Because, 'ignorance, is bliss' as they say, and while us atheists will live in a life where we must question what comes after we die, they may live happily, and respect what they have now without fear. Honestly, I hope there is a god, late at night, even though I feel that in the deepest recesses of my mind I know what I believe, that when I die, that's it. I am nothing. Thanks for your comment, I'm glad someone else agrees with how I finally feel.

I have come to realize the same. But it is only terrifying, i believe, because we as living beings cannot possibly comprehend the possibility of not living, non consciousness. When you think about it though, its not as bad as it sounds. There is no good, bad or anything after death, only peace. I imagine its a little like what going to sleep is like, only without the dreams. Time just drifting by without you ever being aware of it.
