If weed was legal not only would this money be able to be used on more important things like healthcare, but the government could take it and actually MAKE money.

Let's say weed becomes legal. My guess is that it will be moderately expensive, and that you'll only be able to buy certain quantities at a time. Of course, people will want more. So what happens? Dealers start selling more amounts of weed for less money. This works because then the dealers get all the business, so they don't lose profit by cheapening the product. Then the government keeps waging war on the dealers because the dealers understood basic econ. If they don't make it legal, people buy from dealers. Either way, the government gets no money.

But in my opinion, (I could be completely wrong) there are many people who would rather pay a little extra then risk getting from a dealer. This is for a couple reasons. First, you don't have to worry about getting caught doing something illegal and second you don't have to worry about the weed being bad or laced or anything. I have a friend who got laced weed.

I understand where you're coming from, and I agree that there would be a profit on the side of the government. Unfortunately, the money the government would spend to seek after the few dealers who operate outside the law would negate most, if not all of the profits gained.

the only reason pot is illegal is because back in the day hemp was out selling paper. the owner of the paper company started a hate campaign against hemp. thus making pot illegal in the process. Do some research and when people ask for your sources cite them, don't just say "Look'em up." Makes you look like a dumbass.

MetaGunna (05/30/2011) [-] There are diffrent levels of Smoking Weed and Consuming alcohol. Both have one thing in common; Long Exposure = Extreme Side-effects. It has been proven that Weed or should I say THC, does not kill Brain cells. But it has been proven to increase Psychosis by at least 20%-40%, depending on the user.
The only reason I oppose weed is because of what I have personally seen. Everyone in my fairly small school, who smokes weed most weekends, is going no where in life. They lack the ambition and pride, that takes someone to succed in life, and I blame this one weed. While on the other hand I have friends who smoke it at partys the odd time, who appear unharmed by it.

It's not bad at all, actually it's great, but when I started, everyone that knew told me that I was eventually use something else, something stronger. I laughed at them, and yet they were right. That's why I stopped and that's why I think it is illegal. Many of you that are only smoking, and nothing more think of this as BS, but the truth is that there is a lot of people that are like me, and I support that drugs are illegal. Also its illegal due to a fear campaign released in the 1930s because hemp had the potential to be used for paper instead of timber, not because its the last thing we need.

I know a few people at my school that smoke weed, and let me tell you, there is only 1 person that can smoke pot and still be intelligent, every person that smokes weed, forgetting if its good or bad for you, are also the people that will do other drugs, its not that more people will become useless losers, its just that fact that pot will intensify the stupidity of the current losers in the country
