i was watching a video where this was being acted out by a preacher.

it makes atheists look like assholes who are full of themselves. the story was probably untrue as a physics professor couldn't be stupid enough not to understand that things like "cold" and "dark" are perceptions and then flip the fuck out.

a smart atheist would have argued that he could simply create his own religion which follows the same principals and would have the same amount evidence of existence-none. A book isn't evidence and connecting events that happen in the universe to something isn't evidence, it's delusion.

you can thumb me down as much as you want i dont care.

but there is evidence of the things mentioned in the Bible. Im not talking about little things, im talking about records and stuff
#636 to #626 - anonymous (03/28/2011) [-]
There's evidence of things that happen in the Ramayana and the Qur'an. So who's right?
User avatar #635 to #626 - shaunr (03/28/2011) [-]
if the bible has fact then it can not be used to prove gods existence. if you think it does give me a quote from the bible.
#664 to #635 - jcpseven (03/28/2011) [-]
Romans 10:17
John 17:17
John 1:1
Now read Genesis, if you dont want biblical facts then look up and read about Flavius Josephus, and if that doesent speak truth to you then...well then whatever :D
User avatar #681 to #664 - shaunr (03/28/2011) [-]
if it's true then it doesn't prove god's existence. and i was asking for quotes but if you can give me at least a summary then maybe you have something against me but dont just tell me waste my time searching for possible things that contradict my disbelief.

"Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love in his heart"

Surely you all can agree that cancer, tuberculosis, polio, aids etc... are all evil.

I went to highschool knowing a girl. Extremely religious. Loved everything about Jesus, and God. Accepted him as her savior, and father. During that last year of highschool she found out she had a brain tumor. It was VERY unfortunate and sad that she passed away not too long after we graduated. She was only 18.

According to this logic, Loving God is evil.
But according to gary cocksuckin oak evil is the absence of god. wtf is happenning here?
User avatar #615 to #582 - roflerman (03/28/2011) [-]
sickness isn't evil, sickness is sickness lol.

you get cancer because your cells get fucked up and start fucking up other cells and then eventually you have huge bunches of fucked up cells everywhere in your body (tumors)
#591 to #582 - neroazulomega (03/28/2011) [-]
without good there cant be evil
and besides, god doesnt really do anything, after the flood he said "fuck this ima chill" (basically) and let man its own thing
User avatar #608 to #591 - jessiwillia (03/28/2011) [-]
That's where the all mighty, quick answer Christian bullshit "free will" comes into play. Works for everything they can't answer.
#609 to #608 - neroazulomega (03/28/2011) [-]
For the most part, im christian myself but i hate when people use stupid answers like that or simply use god for an excuse for something they cant understand like you said
User avatar #612 to #609 - jessiwillia (03/28/2011) [-]
I don't honestly believe in God, but if there is such a higher power then why would He, knowing we're flawed and sinners, just give us free will? Why create something and gives us the option to destroy each other and ourselves?
#619 to #612 - neroazulomega (03/28/2011) [-]
I personally dont know. I would guess it would be to test the faith of the people for when "judgement day" comes he knows who to save. Or, to have something to do, watching us all day i guess. Who knows
User avatar #617 to #612 - roflerman (03/28/2011) [-]
because we're probably his guinea pigs, he wants to see how we play it out. To be honest rats in a cage could have done better.

#638 to #620 - anonymous (03/28/2011) [-]
We were given free will because God wanted us to love him of our own free will. He wanted us to live along side him and love him, however genuine love only exists when it comes of your own free will. You can't force someone to love you.
User avatar #649 to #638 - jessiwillia (03/28/2011) [-]
See what I mean? If it can't be answered then it's just "God wants us to love him" And free will.
If God wants us to love him so bad then how come he keeps killing us off with natural disasters, then not giving a fuck?
Oh that's right... Free will.

You saved the post with the Gary motherfucking Oak thing, I've heard this thing, being Einstein the student like 1000 times. I think that the idea of us being the ultimate creation is just a nonsense, do you know any of the astronomic scales? we're nothing. Pic related. BTW it's just my opinion, I'm not trying to convince anyone and haters gonna hate.
