That's the thing I don't get about people begging for F4 or HL3. So eventually you're going to get it and play it through, possibly several times. Then what? You're going to kill yourself? People have been hyped as **** for F3 and it turned out to be a huge disappointment for many fans of the original. So I suggest you don't wait and just play the games out there right now

The thing about the Fallout series is theirs so many endings, so many side quests, so many different people to talk to and places to go its basically and infinite experience... but it can get boring which is why they need to release a new one.

Video game technology is growing so fast it's amazing. Like almost 10 years ago you were playing San Andreas, F.E.A.R. and **** like that and you thought it looked amazing and it was the tightest **** ever those games are still the bomb . And the quality is only gonna keep progressing. The future is bright for videogames....

Technology is great, but many developers are forgetting core ideas. lately we are getting some great side scrollers, or other indie games like that, that are **** graphics but have amazing game play. Look at minecraft, or wolf among us. The tech needed for these games we have had for years, sure photo realism is cool but i tend to not notice grahics after an hour of play. Id rather play Half Life over COD Ghosts.

gameplay was the only thing that game did right. The graphics engine was outdated even when GTA 3 came out, and it continued to be an even greater laughing stock as time passed. Especially when you consider that games like Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven came out in the same year as GTA 3.

I don't know man. I think video games have gone as far as they can go, because the devs these days are just ******* lazy/greedy as ****, and will pump out anything as long as they can get the fanbase hyped up enough about it.

The only people that seem to give a **** are the indie developers, but they can't finish their games fast enough before going bankrupt, so they have to release it as Early Access, and rarely ever get finished past the beta phase before abandoning it altogether..

"Everything that can be invented has been invented"
-Charles Holland Duell- 1899
Most of them are but as you said there are people who care and move forward. But not all big developers are good for nothing slobs. Like have you seen Ubisofts new SnowDrop engine dat snowdrop engine err mah gawd... . The progress might be slow but with better technology developers can be even more creative on games knowing the fact that they can in deed make all if not most of the things they and the consumer want. So in conclusion I somewhat politely disagree with your arguments because saying that games have gone as far as they can go is quite foolish.

Not really. Game devs keep putting focus on better graphics instead of more game.
Elder Scrolls, Oblivion, and Skyrim all take place on the same size map
Shivering Isles is bigger than Dragonborn island.
Shooters have been 10 hour campaigns for the past 15 years with no major evolutions in story telling sice HL2 and Cod 4.
Final Fantasy. Yeah the future looks bright for JRPG's. pfffft.
Everybody keeps copying the same **** tier ideas as everyone else, and forcing drm, microtransactions, and online play on absolutely everything.
All the latest hits are because of marketing. Bioshock Infinite, Halo 4, Watch Dogs, GTA V, and Titanfall basically told me they were going to be successful before they even released.
The only ones with the money/dev teams capable of pulling off games like we've never seen before are going to be cockblocked every step of the way by executives with too much money to risk. Resulting game will be ok at best, but with a ton of room for improvement.

He never takes into account two things.
Profit ratio
Marketing budget.

People WANT better more innovative games, but people BUY what's in front of them. Every game series he mentions started off as innovative, but once proven successful, the budget increased. As sequels were made, useless features were added to each game out of "necessity". Because less risks could be taken, the only features added were stuff like create a class, multiplayer, perks, etc...

Bethesda tends to rely upon their stories to carry their games' lack of interesting gameplay. While Skyrim innovated slightly upon the previous iterations, the rest of the game was sorely lacking.

On the other hand, Oblivion was a massive improvement on Morrowind, in terms of gameplay, graphics, and overall quality.

I feel that the next Fallout and Elder Scrolls games will be massive improvements upon the previous generations, not because I'm a blind fanboy, but because they're no longer constricted by 32-bit consoles. With a 64-bit game, modding will be easier, they can make the games more detailed, and allow for improvements in a vast number of fields that were previously restricted by consoles.

"Pop gaming" is for the most part made up of the exact same components. It's some kind of mix between zombies, parkour, stealth, crafting, shooting, mass raiding (à la Bioshock, The Last of Us, and so forth), a version of Eagle Vision, etc. There are many more clichés that are constantly rehashed, but eh, it's what the people want.
I'd say Nintendo is by far the best at not constantly following those mindless trends, and that's partially why I love Nintendo so much.

And I'm still struggling with seeing my favourite franchise get **** all over by EA (Battlefield, not The Sims).

For some reason game companies seem to be able to release and unfinished and broken product, sell it at full price and suffer no consequences because the customers are happy to pay that price and just wait for patches.

This happens in literally no other consumer markets.

Fun fact: Apparently System Shock 2 has a multiplayer feature only because EA forced it the developers to include it. That's close to 15 years ago.

Worth mentioning is that I don't know if it's true or not. I read it on a forum where someone mentioned that the game is meant to be played solo, and because of that the developers had no real intentions of including multiplayer. It wouldn't suprise me if it's true, the game sucks in multiplayer.
