Cersei is actually not that big of a cunt. Everything she did she did out of love for her own children. Any mother would do that. She actually urges Joffery not to (book and season 1 spoiler if you really are that slow or just started reading/watching) kill Ned. While I don't agree with most of what she does, I understand why she would do it.
