Oh, and we took on a splinter from a hive fleet while also battling a major Chaos incursion while we were at less than half strength.

First some serious shit
You can't really compare Guilliman and Sanguinius when it comes to combat. Sanguinius was of course the best fighter of the primarchs, but that was because that was his purpose.

Each primarch was of course first and foremost a general and a warrior but they still had their different parts to play. Sanguinius best warrior, Guilliman "best" tactician, Magnus best psyker and Horus as a jack of all trades to best serve as Big E's second in command.

Being a son of Russ I would have thought that you would understand that, as he was the one that was the most open about his role in the Imperium.

Also "less than half strength". Since you are borderline heretics and don't follow your glorious spiritual liges Codex you most likely have more marines at half strength then another chapter at full.
