this is my first full conversion that i tried. I used a couple of ork bits and some tau bits. please tell me what you think. my only problem was the tau legs which i tried to fix with armor plating.

please give me any feedback you can. my favorite part of the hobby is building and so i would love to get better at conversions.

Since i can no longer edit this content, i would like to ask any viewers to help me come up with a name for my conversion. I was thinking something like "mecha trooper/commander" or something like that. I would love any suggestions.

Is this meant to be used to play?

we would never wield filthy xeno weaponry

good thing i changed it to a power sword. however my guy likes to use the weapons of his enemies as clubs sometimes.

those are bloodravens who cares what they think, lol.
some chapters do use xeno weapons, relictors and the like. not to mention Yarick's powerclaw. i know he isnt a space marine but even so he is still a badass

first thing about conversion is: don't do something that just doesn't work :p

I think you should stick with some normal legs instead of tau legs, since you just cover them with plates anyways :)

Sometimes, a good way to practice conversions is to get a battalion and try to put pieces that don't match on to others.

this picture is a chaos warrior I did, but I took the shield and lance from a Knight, slapped a shoulder plate on it. it makes a huge difference without making it harder on yourself to assemble/paint and cover up :P

I definitely agree. the thing is, I had no more space marine legs. i was using bits given to me by a friend. i tried to cover up the tau legs as much as possible but....tau legs. until i get new sets i will focus on modifying my normal army.

here is the sergeant i made using two grey knight bits. the halberd and the helmet. i did this a few months ago while building my army.

Ah yea, when you're needing bits then its kinda hard to keep going hehe :)

but yea, the rule is pretty much "Less is more". Nice Sergeant btw, although game wise I don't think he can use a halberd, but as you said, you're more about building and painting rather than gaming, just like me :)

i just replaced the tau arm with a space marine arm wielding a power sword. I think it looks a lot better with that.

game wise it counts as a power weapon. i'm trying to get bits from all of my different friends. my friend who plays orks gave me soooo many bits.
