Hey guys! Been a little while since I posted one of my projects, but this is what I've been working on the last month or so. Did a lot of procrastinating. This is my first attempt at an alpha legionnaire, my first attempt at black legion, my first attempt at OSL and weathering, and my first daemons. Loving them already. As always, any comments, critique or advice are welcome

Only gonna respond to this one if that's ok with you. Biggest tip I can offer is practice and perfect your technique for priming and laying down a base coat of paint. The smoother and thinner those two coats are, the more detailed and solid the finish will be when you're done. Make sure you're thinning your paints, too.

Other than that, it's mostly practice and brushwork. Find a position where you can have your hands sit and be supported to make sure your lines are neat and even (I actually cross my legs like a woman and use the top knee to brace the model and my brush). You can look online for various techniques and tutorials, too. Everything I do outside of the basics (glowing eyes, highlighting techniques, weathering, etc) was learned from someone else's tutorial. Eventually you'll find a method that works for you that you can fine tune to make your own.

If you're looking for something to go off of, I actually recently started a blog that I'm going to be updating regularly with both my newer work, and my older stuff. The idea's to show the transition from amateur forwards so that other new painters have a better idea of where to go next with their painting. AgeOfTheImperium.blogspot.com if you're interested.

They're alright, the alpha legion marine could be done a bit more neatly, and the flamer guy is highlighted way to harshly. Plus you should probably base them. Also you really need to take pictures the right way.

The slope is a peice of paper and the lightsource sould be bihind the camera. you should also turn off flash.

Flash is off, and yeah, photography's not my strong suit. The way the apartments' situated, the one lamp is the only mobile light source we've got.

Always good to get critiqued though. I know they still need to be based, & the black legion highlights are a bit thick, but what do you mean by neatly on the Alpha Legionnaire? Very deliberately tried to make him less-neat. Only things that didn't turn out quite as intended were the OSL eyes and the armor chips.
