In the comics this entire thing is based on (first released in October of 2003 and still going, I believe), the word zombie IS brought up, though not frequently. The reason the term "walkers" is used is because there is a second class of zombie that remains inactive until something it can eat gets near it, and doesn't chase it far/at all. I can't remember what they call them, actually. Also, it's been a hella long time since I've read them, but I'm fairly certain Deryl isn't a character -- at least, if he is, he doesn't use a crossbow. *shrug* The more you know.

Theyre called various things in the comic book as well. the most common is Roamer. Lurkers are the waiting ones as you mentioned. They have used the term walker in the comic too I think

*nods* Yup! They call them all sorts of things. I was just saying they've used the word "zombie" once or twice, too, though there isn't much mention -- if at all -- of any character actually having watched/played a lot of zombie media, and they seem sort of ignorant of zombie facts in general, despite knowing the term. How far are you? I think I stopped at volume ... 12 or so?

I have read the entire series, I buy the trade paperbacks(volumes) when they get released and I read the new Issues on the internet. I think they use the term zombies often in the Alexandria arc (volume 12-15). Also, the reason theyre ignorant of zombie facts because in the universe of TWD, there were no zombie media, no romero and so on.

That's what I thought... but then how do they know the WORD zombie? *sigh* I suppose there are more important things to be worrying about.

most likely an oversight
