Also, letmetouchyourboob, can I be a sniper? I'm really good at making myself invisible while other people do all the work.

Bro do you even Xcom

i admit without shame that i don't play on the hardest difficulty in most games. i don't want to get stomped and im rarely looking for a true challange. i just play it for the funs.
does that make me a casual?
well... yeah, that's pretty much the description for it. sue me. or call giantdad on me.

Playing XCOM on easier difficulties is tactical fun. However Playing XCOM (with long war installed) on Iron Man Impossible and trying to win the game is like getting spitroasted by a pair of horses until you can solve a pentagonal rubix cube.
I totally agree with you when it comes to most singleplayer games.
When it's some kind of online / competitive game I go hard. But if it's singleplayer and I just want to have fun... Dying and restarting a few hundred times or grinding for HOURS if it's an RPG... That just isn't fun to me.
If I really LOVED the game, THEN I might go for a higher difficulty on my second play-through just to get a different experience.

Ah, I'm usually not that guy. And generally I do what you described. It's just with this game, for me, a lot of the fun was the challenge.
I can't even get past the first stage in the hardest difficulty on XCom. I don't get what I'm doing wrong. Then again, I haven't played it in years, so...

>High-ground is omni-important
>Grenades are your best friends, so are the missiles
>Never use both actions at the same time unless you're 100% sure you won't run into another pack
> Set up ambushes by moving out of sight and using overwatch
>Flank, flank, flank
>Don't be afraid of spending ammo and resources on blowing the **** out of cover
>Use roofs when possible
>Learn how to breach and clear (proper breaching maneuver can be one of the strongest weapons in your arsenal)
>THINK!!!!! before you commit, it's turn-based, there is no rush
>Suppression, smokes and flash-bangs will keep your squad alive
>Full cover doesn't give your soldiers adequate protection. Dead x-rays do.

I use the "flanking gives automatic crits" option. It's a double-edged sword because it affects you too, but I'm generally more careful than the AI. That said, I don't believe I ever completed a run before I just plumb ran out of time (and computer) to play games.
computer is pepsi
and I'm too broke to build a new one

I didn't even like the first xcom, but I'm getting convinced this one will actually be good
the game xcom should have been
still though, it has a bunch of stuff I don't like, I compare every tactics game with the best one I ever played, and that's SIlent Storm

are you trying to sound clever by saying the Fireaxis XCOM, the one they're making a sequal for, wasn't the first? because believe it or not, people ******* know
also, I never managed to use a scout effectively
and you need mods to fix the high skill requirements for medical items
and an optional mod to increase the grenade range
and medics and engineers were useless
and a mod to get rid of the panzerkleins
but yeah
apart from that, perfect game
you can just rip buildings apart with an LMG, every bullet has it's own chance to hit, there's ton of weapon variety, and even some secrets like alien guns
if i ever happen to inherit a gaming company, I'm making the perfect tactics game
