What about Shadow of the Colossus?

I don't expect it to be massive in comparison, but it sure as hell felt massive.

None of these can compare to The Elder Scrolls game Daggerfall though. Its world map was roughly the size of Great Britain at 188,000 square miles.

I just got done replaying Just Cause 2 on hardest difficulty! i love how massive that game is. Though there's a lot of features it COULD have had... such as some logical physics, it was certainly the definition of "open world" games

This is shit, minecraft world has the potential to be unlimited, and wow has grown two to three times since 2004, and it's maybe bigger than just cause 2 if you count instances too.

Minecraft.

Place is bigger than the planet Neptune.

I don't think any game gets bigger than that.

Anyone forgetting Arma II (DayZ for the uneducated).

Game map was at least 9mi x 9mi or 15km x 15km.

There's NO WAY that Burnout Paradise is that much bigger than Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, or even GTA III for that matter, you can do a lap around Paradise in a clean 8 minutes even if you're leisurely about it. inb4 "of course you can it's a racing game", the speeds of several Paradise and GTA cars are comparable, so unless the perspective is FUCKED, like we're talking "cars in Paradise City are five storeys high" fucked, it don't be like it do

Well, want me to beat all of those?
Elder Scrolls 1, Arena.

6 million square in-game kilometres covered, it literally takes 16 days of real time to walk from the eastern-most edge of the map to the most western point on the map.
