It isn't 500000 years, it's supposed to be 2 centuries, and so in that time, when she gets out of aperture at the end of portal, it was okay, you could see that it wasn't taken over by the alien dudes (sorry, bad with the HL2 knowledge) then 2 centuries later, Half-Life 2 is going on because she wakes up and escapes and and and, what if in HL3 Gordon is going back to find the aperture labs for a reason and bumps into Chell AND WE SEE THEM TOGETHER OMG AND THEN THEY BOTH HAVE VERY LOUD SEX AT THE END SCREAMING EACH OTHERS NAMES AND TALKING AND LIKE RAINBOWS AND like. yeah
User avatar #271 to #270 - theawesomedane (09/11/2013) [-]
you're wrong as well, because the combine attacked earth right after the black mesa incident, and that happen between 2000 and 2010, and in portal you're playing as chell about 10 years after GLaDOS was activated, and that was in 1998.

What about the events in HL2
User avatar #273 to #272 - theawesomedane (09/12/2013) [-]
You're playing as Gordon 10 or 20 years after the combine invasion... I think

What if Chel was in that sleep **** for only a decade or two and the system is broken, because of the disrepair that happened over the course of that decade or two. Then it's possible they'll be together

Another Video Game Trivia thing! If you have minecraft on windows, you can delete system 32 to make "Giants" spawn in the netherworld and taiga biomes.

actually in the end of Hl1 you sign a contract with G-Man (if you choose).
From this he will put you also in a cryogenic stasis much like chell but with more magic involved.
So if the timing is right and Gman wakes Gordan up at the right time they very much could be killing headcrabs together
User avatar #245 to #225 - trimageryan (08/07/2013) [-]
Theoretically I guess, but 500,000 years in the future (at least) would be an awful long time for the Combine to do whatever it is they're planning to do. Hell, it took 7 hours to win a war with the entire human race and in 20ish years they seem to have completely enslaved humans.

Besides, at the moment Gordon isn't really working for G-man anymore, he's rather cross with Gordon after the whole "Vortigaunts separated them from G-man at the end of HL2" dealio.

I would play the game Fac-Man!

I would have thumbed you up but then you crushed my hopes and dreams of Gordan and Chell ever fighting together.

I got the gnome achievement in HL2 and L4D2
The achievement is called "Little Rocket Man" and its through HL2: Episode 2
That **** is so ******* hard, there's parts where I played for hours and forgot I didn't have the gnome then have to load my game so far back. When you drive that half put a part car, you either have to somehow wedge the gnome into a part of the car, or use the gravity cannon to launch it 50 feet down the street and then find it and repeat it. It drove me insane but it was well worth the achievement. MFW I would realize I forgot the gnome somewhere

According to the book Raising the Bar, Valve's Ken Birdwell had a friend whose 12-year-old brother used to draw. Ken had always liked his work so he asked him, several years later, to do a couple of sketches of possible monsters. He presented sketches of several very sexual-oriented monsters to him and Gabe Newell, managing director, the kind of material Birdwell did not expect. Among them was this "Mr. Friendly", with something that looked like a penis. The creature was to literally "rape" the player, holding them with its tentacled arms until the point of fatal copulation. Birdwell was quite disturbed by the concept and wondered if Newell would like it; it turns out he did. They then chatted about possible psycho-sexual alien behaviors and their relation with disturbed teenager sexual ********* . The sexual themes of some of the enemies were intended to appeal to the innate homophobia of 12 year old boys, the targeted audience for the game.

I don't really buy that one, the Aperture Science lab would be a pile of dust after that long.
User avatar #209 to #208 - flusteredmoose (08/06/2013) [-]
It's a game, it could be set in a world made from cake and it would make sense.
#210 to #209 - creepyunclebob (08/06/2013) [-]
Only if the game was called "Cake World" and the first scene was explaining that the world was made of cake. They can make **** up if they want to, but the audience expects things to be as they are in real life unless they are told otherwise. If they want the AS lab to be durable enough to last 500k years, they need to indicate that it's possible.
User avatar #267 to #210 - catburglarpenis ONLINE (08/08/2013) [-]
Your point is taken apart piece by piece by every Katamari Damacy game, as well as every arcade game before they started having story lines.
#268 to #267 - creepyunclebob (08/08/2013) [-]
Katamari Damacy and arcade games both have internal logic. Katamari Damacy has a few set deviations from reality, but they are all consistent and expected based on the kind of game it is. There is no logical reason for Portal, a game ostensibly set in the real world with a few variations, to have buildings that barely degrade after 500,000 years.
User avatar #269 to #268 - catburglarpenis ONLINE (08/11/2013) [-]
Ya got me there. However, the robots are doing everything else, who's to say they aren't replacing their own batteries and rebuilding the buildings? I mean, at the end of Portal 2 you get kicked out of the building in a world that looks like the Apeture Science labs are the only thing left standing. That would lend credence to my theory. My Game Theory.

YEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHH
User avatar #246 to #210 - trimageryan (08/07/2013) [-]
Hell, if it is 500,000 years then at the very least the electricity would have run out. Even solar panels need to be replaced and if they had like a cold fusion reactor or something, that thing would need maintenance and stuff so, yeah.

Plus, ya know, Chell would have died no matter what cryo-sleep she was in.
