From the game's wikipedia page (it's a bit long, so I hid it in spoiler tags): Since its release, Xenoblade Chronicles has earned unanimous critical acclaim from multiple outlets, earning perfect scores from Digital Spy, Joystiq, GamePro and RPGamer,[80][89][93][95] and near-perfect scores from most other video gaming websites and magazines.[75][76][77][78][81][83][85][86][92][97] The game scored 92/100 on the aggregate site Metacritic based on 59 critic reviews.[73] The game had the fourth highest ranking on Metacritic for all video games released in 2012, tying with Thatgamecompany's Journey.[98]
Seems like they're not the only one who enjoyed it. I guess people just have different tastes.

so what you're saying it is that you're really feeling it?
His frame data is PRETTY bad, but it's not Samus levels of bad. Maining him though, you realize that his spacing makes up for it, since you can safely space most of his aeriels and out-range the melee attacks of just about every character. Other than that, playing Shulk is all about reads and covering options, since missing is generally a bad idea, at least compared to characters like Sheik and Mario who can do whatever they want.
Clg NAKAT
Ice Climber's Brawl player, High level Ness Smash 4 player
Pretty respected and makes decent content
This poll just happened recently and I found it kinda funny how people wanted Brawl over Shulk when Brawl is literally considered the worst Smash game so I took the picture and sent it to my shulk friend and decided it would fit here too

doesn't mean someone with experience playing bottom tier will have a chance of beating someone with the same experience playing s tier
There's some **** you can pull off with Shulk at higher levels of skill such as Monado Cancelling, insane knockback-chases with Monado Jump, dunks and the like.
But you have to plan it, and appropriately for Shulk, you really have to see what's coming next in order to play him at maximum capacity. He can't react as well as many of the high-tiers, but he's definitely not bad, especially since the Monado Arts let him do whatever the **** he wants.

I mean most consider him just below Roy/Cloud in Swordsmen tiers with the general order of Meta Knight, Ike, Roy, Cloud (Debated on Roy over Cloud or vice versa) and then Shulk above the other FE swordsmen and Link
his real fault is that his High level techniques are so technical when you get so much more results from other characters with that same level of effort
he is definitely a fun and viable character, just the slightly lower due to some serious faults in his framedata and technical skill need
Also I think it is a requirement for every decent smash player to have a Captain Falcon so you can do Falcon Dittos when needed

call me a noob or a casul or whatever... but what is framedata? i always just played these games and never really worried about any of the technical stuff. I'm a little curious now tohugh.

stadic (12/23/2015) [-] A frame is 1/60th of a second in smash 4 whcih runs at 60 FPS
Each move a certain start up, active, and recovery amount of frames
start up is the frame of a move coming out, active is how long the hit box of the move is active and hitting things, and recovery is how long the player must wait until they are ready to use a move again
Also there is hitstun which is how long an opponent is stunned by your attack
So Shulk has too many start up frames on some moves and too many recovery frames on others with a good amount of active frames

Smash 4 Falcon would seem laggy to Melee but to be honest most things from Melee seems laggy in smash 4
I would recommend playing him though, watch some Fatality, ZeRo and MVG Ryo plays of him and he could very easily interest you
He is also still very much hype in ditto matches as always

Uh, Nair autocancels I believe? or else it wouldn't be his best approach in neutral with SH FF Nairs across the stage
Upair also auto cancels when you hit the ground in a certain frame window I believe, a hard but very useful trick
and I think Shulk's real frame problem is the startup on his fair is very readable and if he misses a smash or a counter then he is super punishable with even a raw up b off of stage from Roy (Kills at around 110 for midweights like Mario so like 120 on shulk with some rage)

Lorithia is a pain in the ass if you're underleveled and don't know how to fight her.
Tip 1: When she summons elementals, each one boosts her physical defence. Kill all of them to make her vulnerable.
Tip 2: The enemies in Bionis Interior should be very ripe with XP for you, so grinding should be quick.
My first playthrough I did about half of the quests, did minimal actual grinding, and ended the game on a challenging, yet not frustrating level. In my completion run (every side-quest complete) I was overleveled for just about everything by a factor of about 5-10 which made most of the storyline painfully easy.

Skill, gear, and levels are all pretty important. If you lack in one, you can make up for it with the other two. Gems I feel are the most important gear, especially if you know how to craft them. So important that I ALWAYS use armor with slots, even if it means ignoring armor without slots even if they have vastly superior stats.
Xenoblade x is amazing, I clocked 70 hours in the first week.

Absolutely! though I wish you could mute the music in the cutscenes :/ also wish they're was more pizazz in their voices. I miss metal face shouting MONADO BOIIIIIII
Yeah, I wish they paid a little more attention to the cut scene music. Just a tad too loud, but thank god for subtitles.
