Trying to catch an Archer in chivalry

And suddenly the thing turns around and gives you an "go fuck yourself" arrow from an crossbow to the head :(

Let me tell you why that's bullshit;
Man At Arms: They can dodge forward, reaching archers really easily
Vanguards: They have a special attack in which they launch themselves forward, and their range it's absurd
Knights: For SOME reason Knights go as fast as archers, and they have long swords;
To make it clear for everyone, Archer is the worst class possible in this game, being dead in 2 hits and as fast as other classes, but i still play it because it's the only way of having some fun without being teamkilled all the way to enemy base;

Man at Wars move marginally quicker, but can dodge. Their weapons are short however and they have the option of a shield.
Vanguard move at the exact same speed as the Archer but pack the longest melee weapons, at the cost of them being rather bulky. The special charge feature is actually counter-intuitive (because you slow down while preforming it).
Knights move slower than any of the classes but they have access to the largest shield in the game.
In fact the best counter to an archer is another archer. Specifically a Crossbow archer as a chest shot will instantly kill them. The second best option for the melee classes is to use throwing weapons.
