All game developers need to take note of this. THIS is how you should promote a game, showing real, awesome, gameplay. If you can't advertise your game without showing ****** fake trailers made with cgi your game isn't good.

That's why I love the metal gear solid trailers.

Except for Blizzard. Their cinematics are the exception.

Too bad this **** is staged as **** . Btw, is eve still slow as hell in leveling etc? Or did they follow WoW's lead and more or less sped everything up?

Have you ever watched player-posted videos of big wars and whatnot? I don't think the voices used here are far-fetched at all. Apparently the makers of Eve asked players to send in recordings of in-game comms, and after a ton of submissions they chose the best. The only thing that's strange is the quality of the voices, but maybe they just chose the clips that had the best quality mics and whatnot, or edited it or something. I am not a saound guy.

I don't know what quality most people have available in EVE as I have not tried it, but from my experience with other MMOs this is fairly standard mic quality.

And when you get excitable people this happens in voice chats. I'd say it is very believable.

It is true that, that stuff does happen but it is so rare. That you will not see it for months.

I wouid love to play eve but it just looks so ******* complicated. and im a guy thats used to understanding a lot of complicated mechanics in games. not dissing the game just seems alot of effort has to be put forth to really get into the game.

If you buy into elite dangerous right about now it'll be perfect.

It's a lot like eve, but it's still new and relatively simple. If you play the game as it's growing you'll know all of the mechanics and be well versed in them over time

I've played the trial before, and there really is alot of info, but it does a great job of easing you in with a pretty good tutorial.
But there is a pretty large commitment required.

Are you sick of doing you ****** job and getting PAID for it?
Try Eve, where you get to experience all the tedium and boredom of having a job, but instead you pay us!

Eve Online is a great game, I got like 5 years on it, but at one point you'll just realize that this is like a second life/job it sometime requires a lot of time and attention and sometimes you don't do anything but after a while when you're trying to figure out where you want to go, it requires time and patients.. I love the game, I really do, i just wish real life didn't need as much time.

That is a pretty accurate description. I stopped because I had other hobbies I liked to do and started working fulltime.

But, winter is coming, and now I'll have more time since I don't wanna become a human popsicle whilst fishing. So, here I come, Amarr.

I'd like to play Eve cause I love space strategy but I also have a life and I dont feel like paying $15 a month for a game I wouldnt get much time to play and so wouldnt be as good as other players

EVE Online The Butterfly Effect Trailer [HD]

This has, and always will be, the best promotional EVE video ever in my opinion.

I don't know how to feel about this game. I tend to switch between EVE and WoW since I like them both so much but I never really got in to the PvP of EVE since I went on as a miner and you simply can't spec in to several trees at once without having them all lacking severely. I might go back and focus more on something else but I've always been intrigued by flying bigger and stronger ships, be it a freighter or a battleship. That is what gets me with EVE, the diversity, the complexion and the fantastic people you get to meet.

It looks like fun, but I don't have the stamina or intelligence to get past the massive learning curve. Not to mention I would just be obliterated by the people that have been playing the game for years already, so no real point to jump into it now.

www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2014/01/29/massive-eve-online-battle-could-cost-500000-in-real-money/2/

as most of us know, in most mmos you can use real money to buy in game money. so when they say it could cost 300,000 - 500,000, thats how much it would cost in real money to rebuild everything that was lost.
User avatar #13 to #12 - ewl (11/22/2014) [-]
also this who thing started because of an unpaid bill. someone had an auto payment on their account to pay for a base, and when they auto payment didnt go through, word got out and what followed was a 24 hour raid.
User avatar #18 to #13 - beldepinda (11/22/2014) [-]
Wait... So you say that people burned (both sides I know) burned 300k real cash through something just to be a kind of mafia protection system?
User avatar #23 to #18 - ewl (11/22/2014) [-]
i think all parties involved had just played for a long time acumulating massive fleets of ships. then when this auto payment didnt go though, the different factions/guild/clans began attacking the area for control. after the battle was over, they could either start grinding again in game to rebuild everything they had lost, or if they wanted to, as you can do in most mmos, they could have spend real world money on in game money, and then buy back the materials, to build their new ships or just buy all new ship. the amound of real world money to do so would have been between $300,000 - $500,000
User avatar #64 to #23 - beldepinda (11/23/2014) [-]
O_O thats maddness... Why would people throw such a time/resources around just to capture a spot??

As it stands now, they need to rework some of the core game. Its subscription based, but eeeeevvverything requires time and waiting. it takes me over a month to get certain things done. So you basically pay to wait a lot of times. Also, you can't even dream of keeping up with even medium skill players unless you plan on focusing at least 6 hours a day on EVE.

Been playing since 2006....its like that maybe 1 day out of 200.....most of the time it is some grind for something or blapping noobs as they enter low sec....it is only that fun on a full moon if that.
#60 to #55 - kyojinn (11/23/2014) [-]
FW gets like that quite often when its time to bash. But I think you're underselling the rest of the gameplay a bit.
Even on slow days there is a lot of fun to be had if you're not an anti-social scrub.
RvB is literally non stop pew pew.
