Oh, Metal Gear. One of the few games that made me have a sad. The first thing I learnt was that all heroes must come to an end. Nothing is forever, that's what makes us appreciate it. Just like everything in life.
It also taught me that life is unfair. Sometimes, you just get the short end of the stick, you have to learn to deal with it. Keep pushing forward though, and you will overcome your handicap, and rise above mere mortals.
Finally, it taught me that sometimes, things will never make sense. Things will just happen, and we have to learn to accept it. You always want to find out, "why", but sometimes, there just is no answer. Leave the unknown behind, and remember what you do know.

Honestly Metal Gear has some of the best storytelling I've ever seen in gaming. EVER. One of the few games I've ever actually cried over a scene. I actually still think about some of the things I've learned from Metal Gear from time to time today. We need more games like this. But I don't think anything will likely come close to the greatness of the Metal Gear series. I'm actually depressed over the fact that I didn't get a PS3 JUST because I didn't get a chance to play MGS4 yet :/ and I refuse to just watch videos of it because it's just not the same

I still get glassy-eyed over the ending of 4. I won't ruin it, but some of the messages I got from that game have got me through life situations. I recommend getting it as soon as possible (be prepared for a hella-lot of cutsceanes though).
