There is an art to presenting a piece of software to the consumer. Good graphics and presentation can make the world of a difference in terms of how satisfying it is to perform certain tasks. If there was no real punch to fighting games then they would be awfully dull.

Let's not forget, exagerrated lens flare and ultra shiny lights does not make bettter graphics.

No, graphics do not make the game. But a good game, -with- good graphics, is good.

A good looking game does not mean better graphics.

Okay, what I'm about to say just my piss some people off, but quite frankly the Mario games actually suck, a lot. I could never find any actual appeal in them. And in my opinion people just say it's a "great game" and that it's just the best ever, i think they're just getting to nostalgic.

Guys, simply put, there's two kinds of graphics in my opinion. Photorealistic graphics (Graphics that try to resemble the real world--Battlefield 3, Crysis etc.) and Artistic graphics (Graphics that try to capture a certain art style--Most Nintendo games, most indie games.) And the thing is people compare between these two when they clearly shouldn't be. Take Mario Galaxy 2 for example--charming, crisp and beautiful, definitely worth 10/10. On the other hand take Crysis--beautiful, crisp, realistic, and once again, worth 10/10.

These two don't even remotely look the same, but they're both worth the praise they get. I did a bit of research on the matter, I think it has something to do with your personality type and your view on games. For some it's an art form, where you fall in love with the characters and the immersive experience (which graphics play an important part in.). For some, it's more of a craft, who're more interested in aspects like design, gameplay, practicality--stuff like turning off shadows and bloom to increase visibility and when needed, frames per second, which is quite the opposite of desiring graphics. I fall in the latter, if you're wondering.

Im guessing that you're implying that all PC players only rave about better graphics, and that they are all assholes because of it.
Making such a generalization makes you an asshole as well. You are no better than the people you just put beneath you.

contrary to popular belief,
the games with BEST graphics tend to be made by a large developing team that works hard on well made games

unless its portal.
portal ******* rocks

No, but I would rather play the same game with amazing graphics than an 8-bit game with the same exact story line

I wouldn't say graphics are what make the game but rather the visual style. Borderlands was awesome, not because of the graphic quality, but the art style and direction.

Idk if I agree, imagine Skyrim with 64-bit graphics. I mean....

No, but bad graphics can render a game almost unplayable.

I dont get any of this! PC-Gamers ALWAYS say PC has better graphics, therefore it is superior to Console. But now there like, "Oh, Graphics dont make a game!"

Seriously, What the **** ...
User avatar #34 to #24 - celestiasbeard (06/16/2013) [-]
I don't play on PC because the graphics I do it because PC usually runs better and because it's easier to mod games on PC
